Print Nozzle Check Pattern / Self Test from the Printer iP3600 / iP4600

Solution

Print Nozzle Check Pattern / Self Test from unit

Instructions to print the nozzle check directly from the printer. By printing a nozzle check pattern, you can check whether ink ejects normally from the print head nozzles.

  1. Load letter sized plain paper in the cassette.

Note: The Nozzle check pattern can only be printed from the cassette when printing without a computer.

  2. Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> (3) button until the Power light (2) blinks twice, release the button.

Note: The Power lamp blinks and the nozzle check pattern will be printed. (After the printer initializes, it will take about 10 seconds until printing is completed.)

  3. Examine the nozzle check pattern output. Click here to see examples of a correct nozzle pattern. Click here to see examples of an incorrect nozzle pattern.

If the output is correct, the print head is normal.

If the output is incorrect, perform the following steps:

  1. Perform a print head cleaning.

  2. Print the nozzle check pattern again.

  3. If any lines or colors are missing from the nozzle check pattern perform another print head cleaning.

  4. Print the nozzle check pattern again.

  5. If any lines or colors are missing from the nozzle check pattern perform a deep print head cleaning.

Caution: Avoid performing more than three deep cleanings in a twenty-four hour period.

  6. Print the nozzle check pattern again

  7. If the Nozzle Check Pattern output is still abnormal even after Deep Cleaning, turn off the printer and letting it sit for 24 hours or more, then perform Deep Cleaning again. The wait time may allow dried ink in clogged print head nozzles to liquefy, and resolve the problem.

If the nozzle check pattern is still incorrect, service may be required.
