BJC-55 Error Codes

The orange CHARGE/ERROR light comes on, the printer beeps, and the printer does not operate. The printer will beep when an error occurs and the orange CHARGE/ERROR light will come on or flash to let you know when and what type of error has occurred. You may need to turn the printer off and turn it on again in order to identify the problem.

Remove the paper from the feed slot and load it correctly.

Paper jam

Remove the paper jam.

BJ cartridge not installed

Install a BJ cartridge correctly.

Correct BJ cartridge not installed

Replace with a correct BJ cartridge.

Battery is not installed correctly

Install the battery pack.

Battery is nearly dead

Charge the battery as soon as possible.

Flashing

Paper not set in feed slot correctly

Remove the paper from the feed slot and load it correctly.

Ink is low

When the low-ink warning is on, this alert appears. Press RESUME to continue. Replace the BJ tank as soon as possible. Also, at the same time reset the low-ink warning counter.

BJ cartridge is being replaced

When BJ cartridge is replaced, press the RESUME button to resume printing.

Battery is low

Change the battery pack.

Waste ink absorber is full

You may be able to print by pressing the RESUME button but the waste BJ tank needs to be replaced soon. Call the Canon Customer Care Center.

Battery is damaged

Turn off the printer then turn it on again. After turning the printer off and on, if the problem persists, remove the battery and replace it with a new one.

CHARGE/ ERROR and POWER lights flashing

An error occurred inside the printer

A serious error may have occurred. Turn off the printer. Wait several minutes, then turn it back on. If the error still persists, call the Canon Customer Care Center.

Printer is overheated

A serious error may have occurred. Turn off the printer for approximately 15 minutes and then turn it back on. If the error persists, replace the BJ cartridge. If this does not correct the problem, call the Canon Customer Care Center.
