Manually adjust color from the driver (Mac OS X) iP3600 / iP4600

Solution

Manual Color Adjustment

Follow the steps below to make fine adjustments to the color hue for the printed output. These settings will only make minor color adjustments. If more drastic color adjustment is necessary, use an image editing application.

After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following to adjust the color.

  1. Select 'Print' from the File menu to open the Print dialog.

  2. In the Printer pop-up menu, select the printer you are using.

  3. In the third pop-up menu, select 'Color Options'.

Note: In Mac OS X 10.5, you may need to expand the print window by clicking the down arrow as shown below:

  4. To bring the coloring of print results close to your taste, change the settings of 'Color Correction', 'Input Profile', 'Color Balance', 'Tone' (for monochrome printing only), 'Intensity', 'Contrast', and 'Brightness'. In the Preview image, you can check the color.

Move the slide bars to the right from the center to deepen the color. Move it to the left to lighten the color.

Note: When using Mac OS X 10.5.x, the Color Options screen does not have the 'Color Correction' pop-up menu. Select 'Color Matching' instead of 'Color Options' from the pop-up menu, and then select 'Color Sync' to perform color correction from the application instead of the driver..

  5. Color Correction

Note: The Color Options screen does not have the 'Color Correction' pop-up menu in Mac OS X 10.5.x.

Select one correction method from the following:

Driver Matching: Color correction will be performed using the printer driver when printing.

ColorSync: Color correction will be performed using ColorSync when printing.

None: Color correction will not be performed using the printer driver.Use this setting when setting managing color from an application.

Note: When using Mac OS X 10.5.x, turn off driver color matching by selecting 'Color Matching' instead of 'Color Options' from the pop-up menu, and then select 'Color Sync' to perform color correction from the application instead of the driver.

  6. When the setting is finished, click 'Print' to perform printing.
