How to use Noise Reduction (grain) on the EOS 1D

Solution

Noise reduction can reduce noise in long (slow shutter speeds) or bulb exposures and reduce horizontal stripes in images taken at high ISO speeds.
On the menu, select "Noise reduction."
  • Press the <MENU> button.
  • While pressing the <MENU> button, turn the <> dial to select <>.
  • While pressing the <SELECT> button, turn the <> dial to select "Noise reduction." Then let go of the <SELECT> button.

Set noise reduction.

  • While pressing the <SELECT> button, turn the <> dial to select the desired review time. Then let go of the <SELECT > button.
  • The menu will reappear.
  • To exit the menu and turn off the LCD monitor, press the <MENU> button.

After the long or bulb exposure is taken, the noise reduction processing time will be as long as the exposure time. During the noise reduction processing, "BUSY" will be displayed on the top LCD panel. You cannot shoot until it disappears.
