Description

How to use Av (Aperture priority) mode on the EOS D60

Solution

In this mode, you set the aperture value, and the camera automatically sets the shutter speed to suit the brightness of the scene. This is called Aperture-Priority AE.

By setting a smaller aperture value (larger aperture), you can blur the background to make the subject stand out as in a portrait. Or, by setting a larger aperture value (smaller aperture), you can increase the depth of field to make the foreground and background look sharp.

Set the Mode Dial to <Av>.

Select the aperture value.

  • Turn the <> dial.

Focus on the subject.

  • Press the shutter button down halfway.

The shutter speed is determined automatically.

Check the display, then take the picture.

  • If the shutter speed is not blinking, the exposure is correct.
  • Compose the picture, then press the shutter button down fully.
