Description

Learn how to change the print quality settings for your PIXMA iP2700, iP2702 from a Windows PC.

Solution

Note This article refers to Windows computers. If you have a Mac, refer to change print quality settings - Mac®.

Before you begin

Before changing the print quality settings, there are a few things to know:

  • The printer's quality settings control how finely ink droplets are placed on the printed page.

  • Paper can affect print quality. Setting the machine to a higher print quality doesn't always mean you'll get better print.

  • Print speed decreases as the print quality setting increases.

Change the Print Quality Settings (Windows)

Follow the instructions below to change the print quality settings through a printing application.

  1. Select the command you use to start a print job from your printer application. (In general, select File > Print to open the Print dialog box.)

  2. Select your printer model name and click Preferences (or Properties). The printer driver setup window appears.

  3. Set the desired print quality in the Print Quality section: High, Standard, or Draft / Fast.

To set more detailed print quality settings, follow this procedure:
  1. From the Main tab, select Custom then Set.

Custom radio button selected from main tab, and set button selected

  2. In the Set Print Quality screen, drag the slide bar from Fast to Fine to select the print quality.

Show Quality adjustment bar on Custom screen. Adjust to the left for Fast print and to the right for Find print.

Note There are five options in Quality; however, selectable options are limited depending on the media type.

  3. Select Auto, Dither, or Diffusion from the Halftoning section.

    • Halftones are color shades between the darkest and brightest color. The printer replaces the color shades with a collection of small dots to create halftones.

    • Dither arranges the dots according to fixed rules to express the halftones.

    • Diffusion places the dots randomly to express the halftones.

    • Auto means the data is printed with the optimal halftoning method for the selected print quality.
