Registering Recipients for Speed Dialing
Speed dialing allows you to dial fax/telephone numbers by simply pressing a few buttons.
The following speed dialing methods are available:

One-touch Speed Dialing (MX870 series)
-
Coded Speed Dialing
Register a fax/telephone number for coded speed dialing. To dial the number, press the Coded Dial button, then enter the two-digit code assigned to that number, or use the button to select it. You can register up to 100 (00 to 99) destinations for MX870 series, and up to 20 (00 to 19) for MX350 series.

Group Dialing
Register two or more registered speed dial numbers for group dialing. You can send the same document to all members in the group.

Registering Group Dial Numbers
To send the same document to several recipients successively, select the numbers you registered to the speed dial codes and register them to a group dial.
The LCD may differ depending on the machine you are using.
The LCDs of MX870 series are used for explanation.

You can register a group dial using Speed Dial Utility. For details, see Registering Recipients for Speed Dialing Using Speed Dial Utility.

Press the FAX button, then press the left Function button.
The FAX menu screen is displayed.

Select TEL number registration, then press the OK button.
-
Use the button to select Group dial, then press the OK button.
MX870 series users: Go to step 4.
MX350 series users: Go to step 5.

Use the button to select One-touch speed dial or Coded speed dial, then press the OK button.

Select the speed dial code to register the group dial.

To register a group under a one-touch speed dial code (MX870 series):
Use the button to select an unoccupied one-touch speed dial code (01 to 03), then press the OK button.

To register a group under a coded speed dial code:
Use the Numeric buttons or the button to select an unoccupied speed dial code (00 to 99 for MX870 series, 00 to 19 for MX350 series), then press the OK button.
Note- You can register a group either under an unoccupied speed dial code.

To register a group under a one-touch speed dial code (MX870 series):

Use the Numeric buttons to enter a name for the group (max. 16 characters, including spaces), then press the OK or the button.
Note- Groups will appear on the Group dial code list by the names you have entered in this step.

Enter the speed dial code you want to register in the group.

To enter a one-touch speed dial entry (MX870 series):
Press the One-Touch Speed Dial button (01 to 03).

To enter a coded speed dial entry:
After pressing the Coded Dial button, use the Numeric buttons or the button to select a coded speed dial code to register to the group dial, then press the OK button.
If Enter first letter. is displayed on the LCD, enter the first letter for the registered name of the speed dial code.
Searching a Registered Dial Code Number by Name (Directory Dialing)
Note- To continue registering speed dial codes to the group, repeat step 7.
- You can only enter numbers that have already been registered to speed dial codes (i.e. you cannot enter the fax/telephone numbers with the Numeric buttons).
- To review the codes you have registered, use the button.
- To delete the code you have registered, use the button to select the speed dial code, then press the right Function button.

To enter a one-touch speed dial entry (MX870 series):

Press the OK button to finalize registration.
Note- To register another group, repeat steps 5 to 8.
- For a list of the entries you have made, print the Group dial code list. For details, see Printing a List of the Registered Destinations.
- To register another group, repeat steps 5 to 8.
Registering Recipients for Speed Dialing Using Speed Dial Utility
Follow the procedure below to register fax/telephone numbers.
The screens of MX870 series are used for explanation.

Before you register fax/telephone numbers using Speed Dial Utility, make sure that no fax operations are in progress.

Start up Speed Dial Utility.

Select the machine from the Printer Name list box, then click Display Printer Settings.
-
Click TEL Number Registration from Setting Item List.
The list of registered fax/telephone numbers is displayed.
-
Select an unoccupied code from the list, then click Edit....
The Individual or Group Selection dialog box is displayed.
-
Click Register individual TEL number or Register group dial, then click Next.
-
If Register individual TEL number is selected:
- Enter the name.
- Enter the fax/telephone number.
- Enter the name.
-
If Register group dial is selected:
- Enter the group name.
-
Select the code you want to add to the group dial, then click Add.
Note- You can only enter numbers that have already been registered to coded speed dial codes.

- Enter the group name.

Click OK.
To continue registering fax/telephone numbers or a group dial, repeat steps 4 to 6.

To save the registered information on the computer.

Click Save to PC....

Enter the file name on the displayed screen, then click Save.

To register the registered information to the machine:

Click Register to Printer.
The information is registered to the machine.

Searching a Registered Dial Code Number by Name (Directory Dialing)
You can search the fax/telephone numbers registered to the speed dial codes in alphabetical order.
- It may be possible that faxes will reach unintended recipients due to the misdialing or incorrect registration of fax/telephone numbers. When you send important documents, it is recommended that you send them after speaking on the telephone.

Press the Coded Dial button.
The coded speed dial code list is displayed.

Press the left Function button to display the directory dialing screen.
To display the coded speed dial code list, press the right Function button.

Use the Numeric buttons to enter the first letter of the recipient's name you want to search.
The recipients' names are sorted in alphabetical order.Note-
You can enter the following characters using the Numeric buttons.
A, D, G, J, M, P, T, W

If the entered character does not match the first character of any of the recipients' name registered to the speed dial codes, names beginning with the character closest to that entered are displayed.

You can enter the following characters using the Numeric buttons.
-
Use the button to select the recipient's name, then press the OK button.
-
Press the Color button for color transmission, or the Black button for black & white transmission.
Important- Color transmission is available only when the recipient's fax machine supports color faxing.
Printing a List of the Registered Destinations
You can print a list of the recipients registered for speed dialing and can keep it near the machine to refer to when dialing.

Load paper.
-
Press the FAX button, then press the left Function button.
The FAX menu screen is displayed.

Select Print reports/lists, then press the OK button.
-
Use the button to select Telephone number list, then press the OK button.
-
Use the button to select the speed dial, then press the OK button.

If you selected One-touch speed dial (MX870 series) or Coded speed dial:
Use the button to select whether to print the list in alphabetical order of the registered names, or in numerical order of the speed dial codes.
Yes: Prints the list with the destination names in alphabetical order.
No: Prints the list with the registered entries in numerical order.

If you selected Group dial:
The confirmation screen is displayed. Select Yes using the button and press the OK button to print the list.

Registering Recipient's Numbers to One-Touch Speed Dial

Display the One-touch speed dial screen.
(1) Press the FAX button, and press the left Function button to select FAX menu.
The FAX menu screen will appear.(2) Select TEL number registration , and press the OK button.(3) Select One-touch speed dial, and press the OK button.

Register a number to the one-touch speed dial.(1) Select a one-touch speed dial number (01 to 03) to register, and press the OK button.The one-touch speed dial registration screen will appear.

(2) Use the Numeric buttons to enter the recipient's name (max.16 characters, including spaces).
(3) Press the OK or button.(4) Use the Numeric buttons to enter the recipient's fax/telephone number (max.60 digits (40 digits for US, Canada, and Korea), including spaces).(5) Press the OK button.The number will be registered to the One-Touch Speed Dial button.(6) Press the FAX button to return to the fax standby screen.
Registering Coded Speed Dial Numbers
Before you can use the coded speed dialing feature, you need to register the recipients' numbers.
The LCD may differ depending on the machine you are using.
The LCDs of MX870 series are used for explanation.

You can register fax/telephone numbers using Speed Dial Utility. For details, see Registering Recipients for Speed Dialing Using Speed Dial Utility.

Press the FAX button, then press the left Function button.
The FAX menu screen is displayed.

Select TEL number registration, then press the OK button.
-
Use the button to select Coded speed dial, then press the OK button.

Use the Numeric buttons or the button to select an unoccupied speed dial code (00 to 99 for MX870 series, 00 to 19 for MX350 series), then press the OK button.
- Use the button to select Name, then press the OK button.
-
Use the Numeric buttons to enter a name for the coded speed dial code (max. 16 characters, including spaces), then press the OK or the button.
-
Use the Numeric buttons to enter the fax/telephone number (max. 60 digits (40 digits for the US, Canada, and Korea), including spaces) you want to register.
Note- Press the Redial/Pause button to enter a pause.
- When Telephone line type is set to Rotary pulse, you can enter a tone ("T") by pressing the Tone button.
- Press the Redial/Pause button to enter a pause.

Press the OK button to finalize registration.
Note- To register another recipient's name and number to a coded speed dial code, repeat steps 4 to 8.
- For a list of the recipients you have registered, print the coded speed dial code list. For details, see Printing a List of the Registered Destinations.

Changing Registered Information
To change information registered for speed dialing, follow the procedure below.

You can also change registered information using Speed Dial Utility.

Press the FAX button, then press the left Function button.
The FAX menu screen is displayed.

Select TEL number registration, then press the OK button.

Use the button to select the speed dial to change, then press the OK button.
Note- If Group dial is selected with MX870 series, the screen to select One-touch speed dial or Coded speed dial is displayed. Select either of the item, then press the OK button.
- If Group dial is selected with MX870 series, the screen to select One-touch speed dial or Coded speed dial is displayed. Select either of the item, then press the OK button.

Select a speed dial code to change.

To change a one-touch speed dial code (MX870 series):
Use the button to select a one-touch speed dial code (01 to 03) to change, then press the OK button.

To change a coded speed dial code:
Press the Numeric buttons, or use the button to select a coded speed dial code to change, then press the OK button.

To change a one-touch speed dial code (MX870 series) registered to a group dial code:
Use the button to select the one-touch speed dial code (01 to 03) to which the group dial to change is registered, then press the OK button.

To change a coded speed dial code registered to a group dial code:
Press the Numeric buttons, or use the button to select a coded speed dial code to which the group dial to change is registered, then press the OK button.

Use the button to select Edit, then press the OK button.
-
Edit the information registered.

Use the Numeric buttons to edit the name (max. 16 characters, including spaces), then press the OK button.

Use the button to delete the fax/telephone number, then enter the new number (max. 60 digits (40 digits for the US, Canada, and Korea), including spaces) using the Numeric buttons.

To change information registered to a group dial code, follow the procedure below.

Use the Numeric buttons to edit the name, then press the OK button.
-
To add a member, press the button repeatedly until an unoccupied speed dial code appears, then select the dial code.
To delete a member, press the button repeatedly until the dial code to delete appears, then press the right Function button.Note-
When you add a member with an occupied speed dial code selected, information on the code is overwritten.

Press the OK button to finalize registration.
Deleting Registered Information
To delete information registered for speed dialing, follow the procedure below.
- You can also delete registered information using Speed Dial Utility.

Press the FAX button, then press the left Function button.
The FAX menu screen is displayed.

Select TEL number registration, then press the OK button.
-
Use the button to select the speed dial to delete, then press the OK button.
Note- If Group dial is selected with MX870 series, the screen to select One-touch speed dial or Coded speed dial is displayed. Select either one the group dial to delete is registered to, then press the OK button.
- If Group dial is selected with MX870 series, the screen to select One-touch speed dial or Coded speed dial is displayed. Select either one the group dial to delete is registered to, then press the OK button.

Select a speed dial code to delete.

To delete a one-touch speed dial code (MX870 series):
Use the button to select a one-touch speed dial code (01 to 03) to delete, then press the OK button.

To delete a coded speed dial code:
Use the Numeric buttons or the button to select a coded speed dial code to delete, then press the OK button.

To delete a one-touch speed dial code (MX870 series) registered to a group dial code:
Use the button to select a one-touch speed dial code (01 to 03) to which the group dial to delete is registered, then press the OK button.

To delete a coded speed dial code registered to a group dial code:
Use the Numeric buttons or the button to select a coded speed dial code to which the group dial to delete is registered, then press the OK button.
