Description

If the machine is not selected in MP Navigator EX or Canon IJ Network Scan Utility, check that it is selected with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector.

Network Scan Settings

You can connect the machine to a network to share it among multiple computers or scan images into a specified computer.

Important
  • With network connection, you cannot scan from Image Capture.

  • Multiple users cannot scan at the same time.

Note
  • Complete the network settings of the machine beforehand. (Refer to the printed manual: Getting Started.)

Complete the following settings to enable scanning over a network.

Specifying the Machine

Use Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector to specify the scanner you want to use.

Important
  • If the product you want to use is changed with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector, the product used for scanning with MP Navigator EX changes as well. The product for scanning using the Operation Panel also changes.

    If the machine is not selected in MP Navigator EX or Canon IJ Network Scan Utility, check that it is selected with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector.

Note
  • The following setting is not required if the machine has already been specified during setup.

  1. Open the Library folder on the hard disk, then double-click Printers > Canon > IJScanner > Utilities > Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector 2.

  2. Select Canon (model name) series Network from TWAIN Data Source Name.




  3. Select the MAC address of the machine from Network Device List, then click 'Apply'.

    Important
    • If multiple scanners exist on the network, multiple MAC addresses are displayed. In that case, select the MAC address of the scanner you want to use.

    • indicates that the machine is not found on the network. Check that the machine is turned on and that the network communication is enabled.

    Note
    • To confirm the MAC address, display the network setting information using the Operation Panel. See "Changing the Machine Settings" > "Changing the Machine Settings on the LCD" > "LAN settings" for details.

  4. Click 'Exit'.

    Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector ends. You can now scan with the machine.

Setting for Scanning with MP Navigator EX

To scan over a network using MP Navigator EX, specify the machine with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector, then follow the steps below and change the connection status between the computer and the machine.

  1. Start MP Navigator EX

    1. Open the Applications folder on the hard disk on which MP Navigator EX is installed

    2. Open the Canon Utilities folder and double-click the MP Navigator EX icon.

  2. Click 'Preferences'.

  3. For network connection, select (model name) series (Network: XXXXXXXXXXXX) for Product Name.

    (Where XXXXXXXXXXXX is the MAC address.)




    Note
    • For USB connection, select (model name) series for Product Name.

  4. Click 'OK'.

    The Preferences dialog closes. You can now scan via a network connection.

    Go to the Main Menu to check whether network scanning is enabled.


Setting for Scanning Using the Operation Panel

To scan using the Operation Panel of the machine, specify the machine with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector, then keep Canon IJ Network Scan Utility running with the machine selected.

Important
  1. Check that Canon IJ Network Scan Utility is running.

    If Canon IJ Network Scan Utility is running, its icon appears in the menu bar.

  2. In the menu bar, click the Canon IJ Network Scan Utility icon and select 'Open Settings'.

    The Canon IJ Network Scan Utility dialog opens.

  3. Select (model name) series (XX.XX.XX.XX.XX.XX) and click 'OK'.

Set up Canon IJ Network Scan Utility to scan images into a computer over a network using the Operation Panel of the machine.

After installation, Canon IJ Network Scan Utility appears in the menu bar.

Menu

  • Canon IJ Network Scan Utility Off or Canon IJ Network Scan Utility On

    Enables or disables Canon IJ Network Scan Utility.

    When you select Canon IJ Network Scan Utility Off, you will not be able to scan over a network using the Operation Panel.

  • About Canon IJ Network Scan Utility

    Displays the version information.

  • Open Settings...

    The Canon IJ Network Scan Utility dialog opens. You can select the product you want to use.

The product selected with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector is displayed. Select the checkbox of the product you want to use.

Note
  • If the scanner you want to use is not displayed, check the following conditions and click OK to close the dialog, then reopen it and select the scanner.

    - ScanGear (scanner driver) is installed

    - Network setup is completed after installing ScanGear (scanner driver)

    - Network communication between the scanner and computer is enabled

    - The product you want to use is selected with Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector

    (To start Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector, click Register Scanner.)

    If the scanner is still not displayed, see Help.

  • You do not need to use this software when scanning via USB or from a computer. See "About Network Communication" > "Troubleshooting" > "Uninstalling the Canon IJ Network Tool/Canon IJ Network Scan Utility" to delete it. You can scan via USB or from a computer even if it is not deleted.
