Description

You can set the machine to reject faxes with no sender information or those from specific senders. Select one of the following conditions to reject faxes.

Rejecting Fax Reception

You can set the machine to reject faxes with no sender information or those from specific senders. Select one of the following conditions to reject faxes.

  • Faxes with no caller identification.
  • Faxes from senders not registered to the speed dial codes.
  • Faxes from senders registered in the machine as rejected numbers.

  1. Press the <Setup> button.
    The Setup menu screen is displayed.

  2. Select [Device settings], then press the <OK> button.

  3. Use the button to select [FAX settings], then press the <OK> button.

  4. Use the button to select [Reception settings], then press the <OK> button.



  5. Use the button to select [Fax reception reject], then press the <OK> button.



  6. Use the button to select appropriate option and then press the <OK> button.
    1. Select [OFF] to allow fax reception without blocking. Then go to step 7.
    2. Select [ON], to block fax reception. Then go to step 7.

  7. Use the button to select the fax rejection condition, then press the <OK> button.
    You can select one of the three conditions below.

    • No sender info.
      Rejects faxes with no caller identification.
    • 1-touch/code unset (MX870 series), Coded dial unset (MX350 series)
      Rejects faxes from the senders not registered to the speed dial codes.
    • Rejected numbers
      Rejects faxes from the senders registered in the machine as rejected numbers.

If you select Rejected numbers, follow the procedure below to register a fax/telephone number to reject.

  1. Select [Yes] when the confirmation screen is displayed.
    The list of rejected numbers is displayed.

  2. Use the button to select the dial code to register, then press the <OK> button.

  3. Use the Numeric buttons to enter the fax/telephone number to reject, then press the OK button.
    Data entry OK is displayed on the LCD, then the LCD returns to the screen for registering a rejected number.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to continue registering numbers to reject.
    You can register up to 10 rejected numbers.

Note:

  • When the machine rejects reception, Reception rejected is displayed on the LCD.
  • You can print the list of rejected numbers.
  • Faxes with no caller identification are also rejected when the setting other than No sender info is selected.

Registering/Editing/Deleting the Rejected Number on the TEL Number Registration Screen

You can register/edit/delete a rejected number from TEL number registration.

  1. Press the <FAX> button, then press the left Function button.
    The FAX menu screen is displayed.

    Note: The Function buttons are located below the display. In the below illustration, the Copy menu shows three available Function buttons.



  2. Select [TEL number registration], then press the <OK> button.

  3. Use the button to select [Rejected numbers], then press the <OK> button.



    1. To register the number:
      1. Use the button to select the dial code, then press the <OK> button.
      2. Use the Numeric buttons to enter the fax/telephone number to reject, then press the <OK> button.
        Data entry OK is displayed on the LCD, then the LCD returns to the screen for registering a rejected number.
      3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to continue to register the number to reject.

    2. To edit the number:
      1. Use the button to select the occupied dial code, then press the <OK> button.
      2. Select [Edit}, then press the <OK> button.
      3. Use the button to delete the number, enter the new number using the Numeric buttons, then press the <OK> button.

        Note:
        * Holding down the button clears the number.
        * Data entry OK is displayed on the LCD, then the LCD returns to the screen for registering a rejected number.

      4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to continue to register the number to reject.

    3. To delete the number:
      1. Use the button to select the occupied dial code, then press the <OK> button.
      2. Select [Delete], then press the <OK> button.
      3. Select [Yes] when Delete the registered number is displayed on the LCD, then press the <OK> button.

        Data deleted is displayed on the LCD, then the LCD returns to the screen for registering a rejected number.
      4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to continue to delete the rejected number registered.
