Description

Learn how to change the color balance and ink intensity on your PIXMA iP2600 printer.

Solution

If your print results are not what you expect (they look different from the original) you can manually change the ink color balance and intensity from a Mac®.

About ink settings

  • Ink settings automatically adjust through the printer software.

  • You can manually adjust color images by changing the color balance or ink intensity / contrast / brightness.

  • You can manually adjust grayscale images by changing the ink intensity / contrast / brightness.

Change ink settings (color images)

Follow these steps to manage color ink settings

  1. Turn the printer ON.

  2. Select Print from the File menu to open the Print dialog.

Print dialog screen shown, with Print selected at bottom of list.

  3. Select your printer from the Printer drop-down menu.

Sample printer selected from Printer: Pop-up

  4. In the third drop-down menu, select Color Options.

Color Options selected from 3rd pop-up.

When you print in color, you will see the screen below.

  5. Select one of the following to manage ink settings:
    • Color balance:
Move the Cyan / Magenta / Yellow slider to the right to intensify / darken the color or to the left to dilute / brighten the color.
Note When one color gets weaker, its complementary color gets stronger. For example, if cyan gets weaker, red gets stronger.

    • Intensity:
Move the Intensity slider to the right to intensify / darken the image or to the left to dilute / brighten the image.
Note If the Intensity setting is too high, the printed page may get too wet or the paper may curl or streak

    • Contrast:
Move the Contrast slider to the right to intensify / increase the contrast or to the left to decrease / reduce the contrast.

    • Brightness:
Select a brightness value: LightNormal, or Dark.

    • Intensity:
Move the Intensity slider to the right to intensify / darken the image or to the left to dilute / brighten the image.
Note If the Intensity setting is too high, the printed page may get too wet or the paper may curl or streak

    • Contrast: Move the Contrast slider to the right to intensify / increase the contrast or to the left to decrease / reduce the contrast.

    • Brightness: Select a brightness value: LightNormal, or Dark.

      Grayscale preview screen

  3. Select Print to complete the task.

Good to know

  • The coloring of entire data to be printed can be changed by adjusting color balance as the balance of amount of each ink is changed. To change the coloring drastically, adjust it from application software. Use the printer driver only for fine adjustments.

  • The contrast of neutral colors can be changed. Pure black and white are not changed. To print data supporting sRGB, select Dark.
