Description

Transferring photos from the XF100/105 to the computer via USB or card reader.

Solution

To transfer photos recorded to an SD card to a computer, connect the camcorder to the computer via a USB cable, or use a commercially available memory card reader.

Connecting the camcorder to a computer via a USB cable

  1. Install an SD memory card to the camcorder's SD card slot, and then connect the camcorder to a computer.
  2. After the SD memory card is automatically recognized by the computer, open the [DCIM] folder of the SD memory card.
  3. Copy the photos in the folder to the computer.
    - The photos are saved in the [xxxCANON] folder in the [DCIM] folder.

    *xxx: folder number

Important:

  • Observe the following precautions while the SD card access indicator is flashing. Failure to do so may result in permanent data loss.
    - Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camcorder.
    - Do not remove the SD card.

  • Turn off the camcorder before inserting or removing an SD card. Inserting or removing the SD card with the camcorder on may result in permanent data loss.

  • SD cards have front and back sides that are not interchangeable. Inserting an SD card facing the wrong direction can cause a malfunction of the camcorder.

Using a memory card reader

  1. Install an SD memory card to a commercially available memory card reader, and connect the card reader to a computer.
  2. After the SD memory card is read by a computer, open the [DCIM] folder of the SD memory card.
  3. Copy the photos inside the folder to the computer.
    - The photos are saved in the [xxxCANON] folder in the [DCIM] folder.

    *xxx: folder number

Note:

When the photos on an SD card are displayed on a computer, the file name of the photo with the number [101-0107] is displayed as [IMG_0107.JPG] in the [101 CANON] folder in the [DCIM] folder.
