Description

Learn how to set the ink intensity and color balance when printing on your PIXMA MP280, MP495, or MP499.

Solution

Follow the instructions below to change the color intensity (brighten or darken the colors) of the printed image or adjust the color balance (tint used).

 If you want to sharpen the print results, you should intensify the colors.

Adjust intensity

Tip You can also set intensity on the Quick Setup tab by choosing Photo Printing under Commonly Used Settings, then Color/Intensity Manual Adjustment under Additional Features.

  1. Open the Printer Driver Setup Window through your printer application software.

  2. Select the command you use to start a print task. In general, select Print on the File menu to open the Print dialog box.

  3. Select your model name, then Preferences or Properties.

  • The printer driver setup window appears.

Depending on the software you use, command names or menu names may vary and there may be more steps. For details, refer to the user's manual for your software.

  1. Select Manual for Color/Intensity on the Main tab, then tap Set.

  • ​The Manual Color Adjustment dialog box opens.

  1. Adjust the intensity options.
  • Move the Intensity slider to the right to intensify (darken) or left to dilute (brighten) the colors.

  • You can also directly enter a value linked to the slider. Enter a value in the range from -50 to 50.

  1. After setting the color adjustments, select OK.

  1. Select OK on the Main tab to complete the setup. Prints, documents and photos,will print with the adjusted intensity.



Adjust color balance

Use software when you want to significantly change the color balance and the the printer driver when you want to slightly adjust the color balance .

Tip You can also set color balance on the Quick Setup tab by choosing Photo Printing under Commonly Used Settings, and then Color/Intensity Manual Adjustment under Additional Features.

  1. Follow Steps 1-4 in the Adjust intensity section above.

  2. Select Manual for Color / Intensity on the Main tab, then select Set. The Manual Color Adjustment dialog box opens.

  1. Adjust color balance options:

  • There are individual sliders for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.

  • You can also directly enter a value linked to the slider. Enter a value in the range from -50 to 50.

  1. After you adjust each color, select OK.

  2. Select OK on the Main tab to complete the setup. When you print a new document or a photo, the color balance will adjust.
     When the Grayscale Printing checkbox on the Main tab is checked, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow appear grayed out and are unavailable.
