You can save scanned data on a USB flash drive or memory card from the operation panel of the printer.

Make sure the printer is turned ON.

Press the SCAN button.
If PC scan standby displays on the LCD after you press the SCAN button, press the MENU button to display the Save to screen.

Insert the USB flash drive into the Direct Print Port.

A screen displays asking where to save the scan. Use the right / left arrow buttons to select USB flash drive, then press OK.

Press the Settings button to adjust the settings as necessary.

Place the original document on the scanner surface or into the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

Press the Color or Black button to start the scan.
If you select PDF or Compact PDF for Data format, you will be asked to press Yes, then OK to continue scanning after the first document finishes. Select No then OK to stop and save the scan in one PDF file.
Don't remove the USB drive while the scan is in progress.

Remove the original after scanning completes.

Remove the USB Flash Drive.

To import the data to your computer, connect the USB flash drive to the computer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Good to know

If the flash drive fills up while scanning images is in progress, only the images already scanned can be saved.

You can save up to 2000 files of scanned data in PDF and JPEG data format.

When you scan originals continuously, you can save up to 100 pages of images in one PDF file.

The folder and file name of scanned data saved on the USB flash drive is as follows:
- Folder name: (file extension: PDF): CANON_SC\DOCUMENT\0001
- Folder name: (file extension: JPG): CANON_SC\IMAGE\0001
- File name: Running numbers, starting from SCN_0001
- File date: The date and time of saving as set in the machine

For safety reasons, we recommend backing up the data saved on a USB flash drive to another media to avoid unexpected accidents.

Depending on the type of USB flash drive, the operation may not be guaranteed.

Some USB flash drives with security settings can't be used.
