To add the ability to scan from the flatbed, run ScanSoft's "Scanner Setup Wizard" using the following steps:
NOTE: This procedure will only need to be ran once. Once the native user interface is turned on, it will always be available.
- Before launching PaperPort, launch the PaperPort "Scanner Setup Wizard".
- On the first screen, leave the default, click "Next > ".
- Make sure the top selection is chosen, then click "Next > "
- Make sure that "TWAIN Canon DR-1210C TWAIN" is selected, and click "Next >"
- Change the setting from "No (recommended)" to "Yes", then click "Next >".
- If a warning message pop-ups and says it is already in the database, click on "Yes", and then "Next >" (on the original window). If no warning message appears, go to next step (7).
- Click on "Advanced settings...".
- Select "Show native user-interface" (and make sure ADF support is checked as well), then click "OK".
As you can see, "Hide native user-interface (recommended)" is the default. This is what is preventing you from being able to choose the document source.
- Finish the setup wizard by click on "Next >" (Note: It may take a few seconds before the "Next >" button is visible, be patient.).
- Click "Next >" again, and it will tell you it is scanning. When that happens, the "User-Interface" window will pop-up, You will be able to select "Flatbed" under "Paper Source". Then click on "Scan".
- Now every time the customer scans, this window will open allowing him to choose the paper source. After the document scans, this window appears, click "Next >"
- Then click "Finish" to close the wizard.
- That's it. Open "PaperPort" and select the 2nd icon from the left ("Scan or Get Photo").
- Make sure the Scanner is set to "TWAIN Canon DR-1210C Twain" and then select "Scan". The "User-Interface" window opens. Make sure that the "Flatbed" is selected for paper source and customer should be good to go.
