Uninstall the MP drivers then reinstall to set up the printer for use over a wireless LAN when you have replaced the printer or if you are experiencing wireless network communication or configuration issues.

Solution

Uninstall / Reinstall

Uninstall the MP drivers then reinstall to set up the printer for use over a wireless LAN when you have replaced the printer or if you are experiencing wireless network communication or configuration issues.

Note: When deleting the MP Drivers, first exit all programs that are running.

When There is an Uninstaller

  1. Start the uninstaller
    • In Windows Vista, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.
    • In Windows XP, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.
    • In Windows 7, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.

      The MP Drivers Uninstaller dialog box is displayed.

      IMPORTANT:
      In Windows Vista, a confirmation/warning dialog box may appear when installing, uninstalling or starting software.
      This dialog box appears when administrative rights are required to perform a task.
      When you are logged on to an administrator account, click Continue or Allow to continue.
      Some applications require an administrator account to continue. When you are logged on to a standard account, switch to an administrator account, and restart the operation from the beginning.
  2. Execute the uninstaller
    1. Click 'Execute'.
    2. When the confirmation message appears, click 'Yes'.
    3. When all the files have been deleted, click 'Complete'.
      The deletion of the MP Drivers is complete.

      IMPORTANT:
      Printer driver and scanner driver (ScanGear) will be deleted when you uninstall the MP Drivers.

When There is No Uninstaller

  1. Select the printer to be deleted
    1. Select the Start menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Printers.
    2. Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click 'Delete'.

  2. Delete the printer
    1. When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click 'Continue'.
    2. Then when the confirmation message appears, click 'Yes'.
      The icon is deleted.

  3. Select the printer driver to be deleted
    1. Press the Alt key. On the File menu, select Run as administrator, and then click 'Server Properties'.
    2. When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click 'Continue'.
    3. Click the 'Drivers' tab. In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.

  4. Delete the printer driver
    1. When you click 'Remove', Remove Driver And Package dialog box is displayed.
    2. Select 'Remove driver and driver package', and then click 'OK'.
    3. In the confirmation dialog box, click 'Yes'.
    4. When data collection is completed in the Remove Driver Package dialog box, click 'Delete'.

  5. Click 'OK'.
    The deletion of the printer driver is complete.

IMPORTANT:
You may not be able to delete the printer driver properly from the Installed printer drivers list.
If this happens, restart your computer, and try again.


Reinstall



Wireless Setup

Note:

Before connecting the machine to the network, make sure that the computer and access point or router is connected.

Add (connect) the machine to the network.

A: Internet

B: Access point or wireless router, etc.




- Notes on Wireless Connection

  • The configuration, router functions, setup procedures and security settings of the network device vary depending on your system environment. For details, refer to your device's instruction manual or contact its manufacturer.

  • In an office setup, consult your network administrator.

  • If you connect to a network that is not protected with security measures, there is a risk of disclosing data such as your personal information to a third party.

  • If an error message appears or if you have trouble with the network connection, refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting.

  • Place the machine and computer on the same network segment.


Note:

An "Ad-hoc connection," which establishes a direct connection to the computer over a wireless connection without using an access point, is not supported. Be sure to prepare an access point.




Wireless Setup Using Easy Setup
  • Check the Information for Wireless Connection


In most cases, "Easy Setup" will be used to connect the machine to your access point or router. Before you continue, you must gather the information below which will be required during the installation.

Note:
  • For details on how to check the following information, refer to the manual of your access point or router, or contact its manufacturer.





- Access Point Name/Network Name:

* Also referred to as SSID.

An identifier to identify the specific access point.

- Network Key:

* Also referred to as encryption key, WEP key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase, Pre-Shared key.

A password required to set to prevent unauthorized access to communication.

Use the or button (A) to display Setup, then press the right FUNCTION button (B).

Use the or button (C) to select Wireless LAN setup, then press the OK button.

Select Yes, then press the OK button.

When wireless connection is enabled, the Wi-Fi lamp (D) lights blue.

Select Easy setup, then press the OK button.

5.


Select the access point name you wrote down, then press the OK button.

Note:
  • Nearby access points may be detected.
  • The access point names with 2-byte characters are not displayed properly, however, can be selected.

Make sure that one of the above screens is displayed, then press the right FUNCTION button.

If the above screen is not displayed, go to 9.

Enter the network key you wrote down on, then press the left FUNCTION button (E).

Press the center FUNCTION button (F) to switch character entry modes.

Enter upper and lower case letters of the alphabet correctly.

Note:

- Character Entry

This machine allows you to enter characters when an on-screen keyboard is displayed.

Follow the procedure below.

1. When an on-screen keyboard shown above is displayed, press the center FUNCTION button (F) to switch to a keyboard having characters you want to use.

  • Four character sets are available: Upper-case alphabets, lower-case alphabets, numbers,and symbols. Each time you press the center FUNCTION button, an on-screen keyboard is switched among them.


2. Select a character on the on-screen keyboard using the buttons (A) (C),then press the OK button to enter it.
  • Entered characters are displayed on the upper section (G) of the on-screen keyboard.


3. Repeat (1) and (2) to enter more characters.

4. After you enter all characters you need, press the left FUNCTION button (E).

* To insert a space, select Space on the on-screen keyboard and press the OK button.
* To insert characters, select the section (G) of the screen using the or button, move the cursor to the character on the right of the target position using the or button, then enter characters.
* To delete a character, select the section (G) of the screen using the or button, move the cursor to the target character using the or button, then press the right FUNCTION button (B).



8.

Make sure that the network key is correct, then press the OK button.

9.

When the above screen appears, press the OK button.

Note:

  • If Failed to connect to the access point. appears, press the OK button, make sure that the network key is correct, then enter it again. If a connection still cannot be established, refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting.






Install the Software (Network Connection)

To use the machine by connecting it to a computer, software including the drivers needs to be copied (installed) to the computer's hard disk. The installation process takes about 20 minutes. (The installation time varies depending on the computer environment or the number of application software to be installed.)

Important

  • Quit all applications before installation.

  • Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).

  • If the firewall function of your security software displays a warning message, set the security software to always allow access.

  • For Spanish Users in the U.S.A.:


Refer to the "InformaciĆ³n adicional para usuarios espaƱoles" sheet to install the Spanish version of the software.




Note:
  • Easy-WebPrint EX


Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Internet Explorer 7 or later is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.




1.

Turn on the computer, then insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

The setup program starts automatically.

Note:
  • If the program does not start automatically, double-click the CD-ROM icon in Computer or My Computer, then double-click MSETUP4.EXE.





2. Windows 7/Windows Vista

Windows XP -> 3


Click Run Msetup4.exe on the AutoPlay screen, then click Yes or Continue on the User Account Control dialog box.

If the User Account Control dialog box reappears in following steps, click Yes or Continue.

Click Easy Install.

The drivers, application software, and on-screen manuals are installed.

Note:
  • If you want to select particular items to install, click Custom Install.

Click Install.

Select Use the printer on network, then click Next.

Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

When the Printer Detection screen appears, click Next.

Important

  • If the Printer Connection screen appears instead of the screen above, the connection method is not correctly selected in 5.

  • Click Cancel and start again from 4, then be sure to select Use the printer on network in 5.

When the Detected Printers List dialog box appears, select Canon MG5200 series, then click Next.

When the Setup Completion dialog box appears, click Complete.

Note:
  • If the machine is not detected, Check Printer Settings dialog box is displayed. Refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting. Make sure there is no problem, then click Next again on the screen in 6.





Information

Click Next.

Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

- Important Information for the Installation

  • Necessary Information for the User Registration


When the serial number is not displayed on the registration screen automatically, input the serial number located inside the machine (as shown in the illustration).

Important
  • If the power is on, the Print Head Holder will move when the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A) is opened.





  • If the Extended Survey Program screen appears


If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.

If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed.

(This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)

Click Exit to complete the installation.

Solution Menu EX starts.

Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.

Note:
  • The buttons displayed on Solution Menu EX may vary depending on the country or region of purchase.





Note:

- Using the Machine from Additional Computers

Now that the wireless connection of the machine is complete, it can be used from additional computers on the same network.

Install software including the drivers on the computer from which you want to use the machine. Other settings are not required.

To add computers from which to use the machine, go to [ Use from Additional Computers]




Note:

- Installing the XPS Printer Driver

In Windows 7 and Windows Vista SP1 or later, the XPS Printer Driver can be installed additionally. To install, perform from 1 in [ Install the Software (Network Connection) ]. Click Custom Install in 3, then select XPS Printer Driver in the Custom Install screen.




Use from Additional Computers
Note:
  • If the machine is already connected to a wireless connection, it can be used from additional computers on the same network.





To use from additional computers

1. Insert the Setup CD-ROM into the computer from which you want to use the machine.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

Other settings are not required.

A: Computer from which the machine can be used currently

B: Additional computers on the same network It enables the computer to use the machine.
