LCD error messages (MX340)

Description
Solution
If an error message is displayed on the LCD, take the corresponding action described in the chart below.
In addition, the following button pushes are valid when an operator call error occurs:
- ON button: To turn the printer off and on again.
- OK button: To clear and recover from an error. In some operator call errors, the error will automatically be cleared when the cause of the error is eliminated, and pressing the OK button may not be necessary.
- Stop button: To cancel the job at error occurrence, and to clear the error.

The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly, or the Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover) and install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. Installing / Replacing FINE Cartridge(s) If the error is not resolved, the FINE Cartridge may be damaged. |
Check ink U075/U076 |
Make sure that each FINE Cartridge is installed in the correct position. |
Check ink U140 |
The FINE Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine. |
Check ink U150 |
The FINE Cartridge may not be installed properly. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover) and install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. |
Check ink U162 |
The ink may have run out. The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled since the ink level cannot be correctly detected. If you want to continue printing without this function, press the machine's Stop button for at least 5 seconds. Canon recommends to use new genuine Canon cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by continuation of printing under the ink out condition. ![]()

Check ink U163 |
The ink has run out. Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit (Cover). Installing / Replacing FINE Cartridge(s) If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the machine's Stop button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition. The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled. Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after the printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing is continued under the ink out condition. ![]()

Some errors occurred while copying and a certain time passed. Press the OK button to dismiss the error, and try to copy again. |
Incompatible device Disconnect the cable from direct print port |

Scanning the print head alignment sheet has failed. Press the OK button to dismiss the error, then take the actions described below.
If the error is not resolved, connect the machine to the computer and align the Print Head on the printer driver. |
Unsupported USB hub Remove hub |
If a PictBridge compliant device is connected via a USB hub, remove the hub and connect it directly to the machine. |
Printer error has occurred Contact service center B200 |
You may be able to recover from this error by replacing the ink cartridges. |

Close the feeder cover [OK] ->Eject the document |
Documents remain in the ADF. Press the OK button to eject documents and press the Stop button to stop ejecting. |
Document too long Press [OK] |
The document is too long or is jammed in the ADF. Remove the document page jammed in the ADF, then press the OK button. After resolving the error, make sure that the document you are loading meets the machine's requirements before redoing the operation.

You opened the Scanning Unit (Cover) during an operation. Return the Scanning Unit (Cover) to its original position. |

If paper has jammed in the machine, clear the jam, reload the paper in the machine correctly and then press the OK button. |

Auto redial |
The machine is waiting to redial the recipient's number because the line was busy or the recipient did not answer when you tried to send a document. Wait for the machine to automatically redial the number. If you want to cancel automatic redialing, wait until the machine starts dialing the number, then press the Stop button. The handset is not placed in the handset cradle correctly. |

The recipient's fax machine is not color-compatible. |
No tone detected |
The telephone line cable with a modular plug may not be plugged in properly. |
Received in memory |
If the machine receives a fax under one of the following conditions, the machine will not be able to print the received fax and will store it in its memory. When the problem is resolved as described, the fax stored in memory is printed automatically.

Transmission has been canceled because the machine could not detect the recipient's fax machine information or the information did not match the dialed number. Reception rejected |
Reception has been rejected because the fax matches the fax rejection condition specified by Fax reception reject. |
Waiting for report |
When OFF is selected for Auto print in FAX user settings, a report will not be printed and stored in memory. Select ON for Auto print, then print the report. The amount of remaining ink is insufficient to print a report: Paper has run out: A different size of paper from that specified by [ Page size ] is loaded: [ Page size ] is set to other than [ A4 ], [ Letter ], or [ Legal ]: [ Type ] is set to other than [ Plain paper ]: You pressed the Stop button to cancel printing of a report: |
