If your access point or router supports WPS® (Wi-Fi® Protected Setup), a wireless connection can easily be set up.
For details on WPS, refer to the manual of your access point or router.

Before you begin
- Make sure the computer and access point (router) are connected.
- (A) Internet
- (B) Wireless router


The configuration, router functions, setup procedures and security settings of the network device vary depending on your system environment. For details, refer to your device's instruction manual or contact its manufacturer.
- Check to be sure your device supports IEEE802.11n/g/b.
- In an office setup, consult your network administrator.
If you connect to a network that's not protected with security measures, there is a risk of disclosing data such as your personal information to a third party.
If an error message appears, or if you have trouble with the network connection, refer to the printed manual: Network setup troubleshooting.
An "Ad-hoc connection," which establishes a direct connection to the computer over a wireless connection without using an access point, isn't supported.
Start WPS setup

Use the Menu button (A) to select Device settings.

Use the left or right arrow
(B) to select LAN settings, then tap OK.
-
Select WLAN active / inactive, then tap OK.

Select Wireless LAN active, then tap OK.

When wireless connection is enabled, the Wi-Fi lamp (C) lights blue.

Select Wireless LAN setup, then tap OK.

Select WPS, then tap OK.

Select Push button method, then tap OK.

Press and hold the WPS button on the router (for about 5 seconds), then tap OK on the machine within 2 minutes. For details on the WPS button, refer to the router manual.

The Wi-Fi lamp (blue) on the machine flashes while searching for or connecting to an access point.

When this screen appears, tap OK.

If the timeout error screen appears, tap
OK, then start over from step 8.

If another error appears, refer to the printed manual: Network setup troubleshooting.

To use the PIN code method for setup, select PIN code method in Step 7, then press the OK button. Follow the on-screen instructions to operate the machine and router. When the screen in step 9 appears, press the OK button.

If the setup isn't complete within 10 minutes and the timeout error screen appears, press the OK button to perform the setup again and set the new PIN code displayed on the screen to the access point. If another error displays, refer to the printed manual: Network setup troubleshooting.
Software Installation
To use the printer with a computer, software and drivers needs to be installed on the computer. The installation process takes about 20 minutes and may require an internet connection.
Quit all running applications before installation.

Log on with administrator rights.

If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If such a warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

Make sure that any of the lamps on the mode buttons (A) light and that the Wi-Fi lamp (B) lights blue.

- If the printer is already connected to the network, you don't need to use a USB cable to perform a network setup.

Turn on the computer, then download the MP Driver from our website. After the file finishes downloading, open it. If you're asked to provide permission to continue, select Yes.

When the setup program begins, select Next.

Select your place of residence, then select Next.

Read the license agreement, then select Yes.

Select Use the printer with wireless LAN connection, then select Next.

When the Check Printer window appears, select OK. The computer searches for the printer on the network.

Your printer displays in the window. Make sure it's selected, then select Next.

If your printer isn't detected, check any installed security or firewall software to see if it's blocking any ports that the printer uses for network communication. Refer to your security or firewall software documentation for more information.

When the Setup Completion screen appears, select Complete.
