Uninstall and Reinstall MP Navigator EX - PIXMA MG, MP, MX Series

Learn how to uninstall and reinstall the MP Navigator EX software for your PIXMA printer.

 

Solution

If you no longer need your MP Navigator EX software, or if it's not correctly installed, follow these steps to uninstall / reinstall it.
The following information is provided as a general outline. For detailed instructions, please see your user manual.

Note To uninstall the software using Windows, you must log on with administrator privileges. To uninstall software in Mac OS X® you must log on as an administrator. 

Follow the instructions below for your operating system.


Uninstall the software - Windows

  1. Close any open software applications, including the MP Navigator EX and virus checkers. To close the MP Navigator EX, select the X at the top right of the screen or Close at the bottom right.

  2. When the confirmation message displays, select OK.

  3. Select Start on the taskbar, point to (All) Programs > Canon Utilities > MP Navigator EX, then select MP Navigator EX Uninstall. 
    Note In Windows 10, .click Start, then point to Canon Utilities > MP Navigator EX, then select MP Navigator EX Uninstall.

  4. At the confirmation dialog box, select OK to remove the components, then Finish.

  5. After the software is removed, reinstall MP Navigator EX (see the section below for the steps).

If you have the Setup CD-ROM, select Custom Install to install only MP Navigator EX. If you don't have the Setup CD, refer to the instructions below to download the file.


Uninstall the software - Mac®

  1. Close any open software applications, including the MP Navigator EX and virus checkers. To close the MP Navigator EX, select the X at the top right of the screen or Close at the bottom right.

  2. Double-click the hard disk icon where MP Navigator EX was installed, double-click the Applications folder, Canon Utilities and then put the MP Navigator EX icon into the Trash.

  3. Empty the Trash, then restart your computer.

  4. After the software has been removed, reinstall MP Navigator EX (see the section below for the steps).

If you have the Setup CD-ROM, select Custom Install to install only MP Navigator EX. If you don't have the Setup CD, refer to the instructions below to download the file.


Install/Download the MP Navigator EX file

  1. On the Canon Support page enter the name of your printer in the search box. Select your printer when it appears under the search box, then select Go.

  2. When the support page for your model loads, select Drivers & Downloads.

  3. Click on the Software tab, choose SELECT to the right of the listing for MP Navigator EX, then select DOWNLOAD. If prompted to run or save the file, save it to your PC.
    Note This image shows a Windows file name. If you have a Mac, be sure to choose a Mac file.

  4. After the file has been saved to your computer, open it. On Windows, it will begin installing automatically.
    If you are using a Mac, double-click on the .pkg file to start the setup program.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
