Description

Find out how to remove paper jammed in the PIXMA MP280, MP495, or MP499 printer.

Solution

If you need to turn off the printer to remove jammed paper while printing, press the Stop / Reset button to cancel print jobs before turning off the machine.

Paper is jammed in the Paper Output Slot or the Rear Tray

  1. Slowly pull the paper out, either from the Rear Tray or from the Paper Output Slot, whichever is easier.

  2. If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the printer, turn it off.

  3. Open the Scanning Unit (Cover), and remove the paper.
Note Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine.

  4. After removing all paper, close the Scanning Unit (Cover), and turn the printer back on.

  5. If you cannot pull the paper out, turn the printer off and turn it back on. The paper may be ejected automatically.

  6. Reload the paper, and press the Stop / Reset button on the printer.

  7. If you turned off the printer in step 2, all print jobs in the queue are canceled. Reprint if necessary.

Tips When reloading the paper:

  • Confirm that you are using paper suited for printing and you're loading it correctly.

  • Use paper other than A5 sized to print documents with photos and graphics; otherwise, the printout may curl and cause paper to jam.
