Description

Uninstalling / reinstalling the PIXMA MP drivers on a Windows computer.

Solution

Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver

If the MP Navigator or the MP drivers are no longer required, or if they are not installed correctly, uninstall them.

Caution: Uninstalling means deleting software, such as MP drivers, from the computer. Once the software has been deleted the unit cannot be used through the computer until the software has been reinstalled.

Note: Login as a user with Administrator privileges to uninstall on Windows 7 / Windows Vista/ Windows XP. Turn off any programs running in the background, such as antivirus programs and firewalls before begining.

  1. Select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.

    The MP Drivers Uninstaller dialog box is displayed.

    Important:
    In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, a confirmation / warning dialog box may appear when starting, installing or uninstalling software.
    This dialog box appears when administrative rights are required to perform a task.
    When you are logged on to an administrator account, click Yes (or Continue, Allow) to continue.
    Some applications require an administrator account to continue. When you are logged on to a standard account, switch to an administrator account, and restart the operation from the beginning.

  2. Execute the uninstaller
    1. Click Execute.
    2. When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.

  3. When all the files have been deleted, click Complete.
    The deletion of the MP Drivers is complete.

    Important: Printer driver and scanner driver (ScanGear) will be deleted when you uninstall the MP Drivers.

- When There is No Uninstaller

When there is no uninstaller in the Start menu of Windows 7 or Windows Vista, follow these steps:

  1. Select the printer to be deleted.
    • If you are using Windows 7, select the Start menu -> Devices and Printers.
      Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click Remove device.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, select the Start menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Printers.
      Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click Delete.

  2. Delete the printer.
    • If you are using Windows 7, when the confirmation message appears, click Yes. Then when the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes.
      The icon is deleted.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, when the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue. Then when the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
      The icon is deleted.

  3. Select the printer driver to be deleted
    • If you are using Windows 7, click any icon in Printers and Faxes.

      On the command bar, click Print server properties, and then click the Drivers tab. If the Change Driver Settings button is displayed, click that button.
      When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes.
      In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, press the Alt key. On the File menu, select Run as administrator, and then click Server Properties.
      When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue.
      Click the Drivers tab. In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.

  4. Delete the printer driver.

    When you click Remove, Remove Driver And Package dialog box is displayed.
    Select Remove driver and driver package, and then click OK.
    In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
    When data collection is completed in the Remove Driver Package dialog box, click Delete.

  5. Click OK.
    The deletion of the printer driver is complete.

    Important: You may not be able to delete the printer driver properly from the Installed printer drivers list.
    If this happens, restart your computer, and then try again.

  6. Reinstall the drivers.

USB Installation

This is the recommended installation when you use the machine on a single computer, which is not networked.

Attention:

Do not connect the USB cable yet.

You will be prompted to connect it during the installation using the Setup CD-ROM.



Important:
  • Quit all applications before installation.
  • Log on using an administrator account.
  • Internet connection may be required during the installation. Connection fees apply.

Screens are based on Windows 7 operating system Home Premium. Actual screens may differ depending on the OS version.

  1. Press the ON button to turn off the machine.
    Operating noise stops after about 30 seconds.



  2. Insert the CD-ROM into the computer.




    Important:
    • If the USB cable is already connected, unplug it. If a message appears on the computer, click Cancel.

  3. Click Run Msetup4.exe on the AutoPlay screen, then click Yes or Continue on the User Account Control dialog box.
    If the User Account Control dialog box reappears in following steps, click Yes or Continue.



    Reference:
    • If the CD-ROM does not autorun:
      Double-click (My) Computer > CDROM icon > MSETUP4.EXE.


  4. Click Next.



  5. Cilck USB Connection.



  6. Click Next.

    • Easy-WebPrint EX
      Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Internet Explorer 7 or later (Windows) is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.
      Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

  7. When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect the machine to the computer with a USB cable.
    After connecting the cable, TURN ON THE MACHINE.



  8. Click Next.




    - Important Information for the Installation
    If the Extended Survey Program screen appears




    If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.

    If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed.
    (This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)

    When the [Test Print] window is displayed.




    Test printing will be performed to check the printer's operation.

    Load plain paper into the printer and click [Execute].

    After test printing, click [Next].

    To skip test printing, click [Next] instead of [Execute].

  9. Click Exit to complete the installation.

    Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.



  10. Solution Menu EX starts.

    • Installing the XPS Printer Driver
      In Windows 7 and Windows Vista SP1 or later, the XPS Printer Driver can be installed additionally. In order to perform the installation, select [XPS Driver] in step 6.

Wireless

Perform the setup using a USB cable.

  • First, confirm the information necessary for performing the wireless LAN setup using a USB cable.


In most cases, "Wireless Setup Using the USB cable" will be used to connect the machine to your access point or router. Before you continue, you must gather the following information which will be required during the installation.

Refer to the instruction manual for the access point or the router you are using, or you may contact each manufacturer for help.

  • - Access Point Name/Network Name
    * Also referred to as SSID.
    An identifier to identify the specific access point.

  • Network Key
    * Also referred to as encryption key, WEP key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase, Pre-Shared key.
    A password to prevent unauthorized access to the network.
Attention:

  6. Click Wireless Setup Using the USB Cable.




    Reference:
    • If the Detected Access Points List screen appears
      Select the access point for printer to connect to, and click Connect.


    • When Connect is grayed out, the access point you selected may be encrypted.



    • To connect to this access point, enter the network key and then click Connect.




Install the Software (Information)
Let's perform the software installation.

  1. Click Next.



    Reference:
    • Easy-WebPrint EX
      Easy-WebPrint EX is Web print software that is installed on the computer when installing the supplied software. Internet Explorer 7 or later (Windows) is required to use this software. An Internet connection is required for installation.
      Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.

  2. When the Setup Completion dialog box appears, click Complete.



  3. Click Next.



    - Important Information for the Installation

    If the Extended Survey Program screen appears.



    If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.

    If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed.
    (This has no effect on the machine's functionality.)

    When the [Test Print] window is displayed
