The PIXMA MG series printer automatically turns off when the printer isn't used for a certain amount of time. The default setting is 240 minutes (4 hrs.). You can change this to any of the following:

Disable
-
15 minutes
-
30 minutes
-
60 minutes
-
120 minutes
Good to know
The Auto Power Off setting doesn't function when:
-
the printer is used via a network.
-
Writable from USB PC or Writable from LAN PC is selected for Read/write attribute under Device user settings (not available on the MG2120, MG3120, or MG3122).
-
a USB flash drive, a PictBridge compliant device, or the optional Bluetooth Unit BU-30 is connected to the direct print port (not available on the MG2120, MG3120, MG3122, or MG4120).
Follow the steps below to change the printer's default setting.
From the operation panel of the printer

Confirm that the printer is turned ON.

Select
ECO settings on the HOME screen.

Use the up/down arrow
buttons to select Auto power off. Use the left/right arrow
buttons to select OFF, then select OK.

Next follow the steps below that are for your specific operating system
From a Windows PC

Confirm that the printer is turned ON.

Open the printer Properties menu, then select Auto Power from the Maintenance tab.

Select Disable in Auto Power Off, then select OK.

From a Mac® (10.6.x or later)

Confirm that the printer is turned ON.

Open Options & Supplies in Print & Fax / Print & Scan / Printers & Scanners, then select Open Printer Utility from the Utility tab.

Select Auto Power in Power Settings.

Select Disable in Auto Power Off, then select OK.

From Mac® (10.5.x)
-
Confirm that the printer is turned ON.

Select Open Print Queue in Print & Fax, then select Utility.

Select Auto Power in Power Settings.

Select Disable from the Auto Power Off drop-down, then select OK.
