Shooting in Auto Mode

In this mode, all you have to do is press the shutter button and let the camera do everything else.

1. Press the power button.

The start-up sound will play and the startup image will display in the LCD monitor.

Pressing the power button again turns the power off.

To switch to the setting that mutes all sounds (except for the warning sound), press and hold the <DISP.> button while pressing the power button.

2. Set the Mode Dial to (Auto).

3. Aim the camera at the subject.

- When you point the camera toward the subject, the camera will make a slight noise as it determines the scene.

- The camera focuses on the subject it judges to be the main subject, and the icon for the determined scene appears in the upper right of the screen.

- When faces are detected, a white frame appears on the face of the main subject, while gray frames appear on other detected faces.

- Even if the detected faces move, the camera will follow the faces within a certain range.

4. Compose the shot.

- Moving the zoom toward the single tree will zoom in on your subject, making it appear larger. Moving it in the opposite direction will zoom out from your subject making it appear smaller.

- Keep your subject within the available focusing range that appears on the screen for a given zoom position.

5. Focus and shoot.

Press the shutter button halfway to focus.

- When the camera focuses, it beeps twice and a green AF frame appears in the LCD monitor on the portion of the image used to set the focus.

- If the subject is difficult to focus on, the lower indicator beside the LCD will blink yellow and the beep will play one time.

- If the indicator lights orange and "Raise the flash" appears on the screen, it is recommended to shoot with the flash. Raise the flash manually, it will fire when you shoot. When you are not using the flash, lower it until it closes (the flash will turn off).

Press the shutter button fully to shoot.

- The shutter sound will play and the image will record. The indicator will blink green while the image is recorded to the memory card.

- The picture appears for two seconds on the LCD monitor*.

* With the Review function, you can change the length of time images show on the LCD monitor after shooting, or set it so they do not show at all.
