System Requirements for the User Manual CD-ROM (e-Manual)

You can view the e-Manual in a Web browser. Supported (tested) browsers include the following.

Windows:

  • Internet Explorer 6.0/7.0/8.0
  • Firefox 2.x/3.x

Mac OS:

  • Safari 2.x/3.x
  • Firefox 2.x/3.x
note:
  • Java scripting

Enable Java scripting in your browser before using the e-Manual.

Setting Up Your Computer to Print and Send Faxes (Windows Only)

Supported operating systems, computers, and protocols include the following.

  • Operating system:

- Windows 2000 Professional

- Windows XP Professional

- Windows XP Home Edition

- Windows XP Home Edition

- Windows Vista

- Windows 7

- Windows 2000 Server

- Windows Server 2003

- Windows Server 2008

  • Computer:

- Windows / IBM PC compatibles

  • Protocol:

- TCP/IP

note:

If you are using Windows 2000, Service Pack 4 or later needs to be installed.

System Requirements for the PC Fax Function

The following system environments are necessary in order to use the fax driver.

  • Operating Systems:

- Windows 2000

- Windows XP

- Windows Vista

- Windows 7

- Windows Server 2003

- Windows Server 2008

  • Computer:

- Any computer that runs the above systems

  • Memory:

- Any memory with the capacity required to operate the compatible operating systems

note:
  • Supported operating systems may differ according to the fax driver version you are using.
  • Depending on the printer model, you need to specify a queue as described below.

- LPR: For Windows TCP/IP, enter either [Print], [Hold], or [Direct] as the queue.

- RAW: The following four port numbers are available:

9100: Enter either [Print], [Hold], or [Direct] as the queue.

9101: The queue will be set to [Direct].

9102: The queue will be set to [Print].

9103: The queue will be set to [Hold].

- SMB: Select any of the three queues displayed after selecting a printer from the network tree.

System Requirements for the Scanner Function

The following system environments are necessary in order to use the scan function.

  • Hardware requirements:

- IBM or IBM-compatible PC

- A computer connected to LAN, or a computer that has a USB port and with an installed USB class driver.

  • Supported Operating Systems:

- Windows 2000 Professional

- Windows XP Professional/Home Edition

- Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

- Windows Vista (32-bit/64-bit)

- Windows 7 (32-bit/64-bit)

note:
  • The scan function is not available in the IPv6 environment. Use the USB connection or IPv4 to use the scan function.
  • The following server operating systems are not available.

- Windows 2000 Server

- Windows Server 2003

- Windows Server 2008

  • To use Hi-Speed USB, your computer needs to meet the following requirements.

- CPU: Intel Pentium II or higher

- RAM: 128 MB or higher

- Operating system:

Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

Windows XP Service Pack 1, or later

Windows Vista

Windows 7

- Driver: The Hi-Speed USB driver needs to be installed.

System Requirements for the Remote UI Function

Supported operating systems and Web browsers include the following.

- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or later

Macintosh

  • Operating system:
