How to set High-Speed Continuous Shooting (High-speed Burst HQ)

You can shoot continuously while the shutter button is pressed and held down fully.

You can shoot up to 8 continuous shots at a maximum speed of approx. 10.3 images per second with the PowerShot SX40 HS and approx. 9.6 images per second with the PowerShot S100.

HQ stands for "High Quality".

note:

  • The focus, brightness and white balance will be set with the first shot.
  • Nothing will appear on the screen while shooting.
  • After continuous shooting ends, a certain amount of time may be needed before you can take the next shot.
  • Depending on the shooting conditions, camera settings and the zoom position, the shooting speed may slow down.
  • [ISO speed] is set to [AUTO] ().
  • The main functions that are not available in the [High-speed Burst] () mode are as follows:

- [Flash] (), [Date Stamp], [Self-Timer] ()

important:

  • The position and shape of the operation buttons, screens displayed, and setting items may differ according to the model you use.


1. Set the <Mode Dial> to () and then press the <Power> button.


2. Press the <FUNC./SET> () button.


3. The following screen appears.

Operate the <directional buttons> up or down to select the [Rec. Mode]. (If no changes have been made so far, [Movie Digest)] () will be displayed.)


4. The following screen appears.

Operate the <directional buttons> right or left to select the [High-speed Burst HQ].

Press the <FUNC./SET> () button.


5. The following screen appears.

If the [High-speed Burst HQ] () icon is displayed on the upper-right part of the screen, the setting is completed.

As long as you hold the <shutter button> down, the camera will shoot successive images.

Release your finger from the shutter button to finish shooting, or shooting will end automatically when the maximum number of images have been shot

Viewing Each Image in a Group (Group Playback)

When playing back images, images taken in [High-speed Burst HQ]()mode are displayed in a group with only the first image displayed, however, grouped images can also be viewed individually.

important:

If you erase a grouped image, all the images in the group will also be erased. Be sure to exercise adequate caution.

  • To view images taken in [High-speed Burst HQ] () mode as a group, press <MENU>, and then select [On] for [Group Images] in the [Playback Menu]() tab. (By default, [On] is selected.)



1. Choose an image group.

Operate the <directional buttons> left or right to choose an image that displays ().

Press the <FUNC./SET> () button.


2. The following screen appears.

Operate the <directional buttons> left or right to view images in the group individually.

If you press the <Jump> () button, [Display all images] will appear on the screen. Press the <FUNC./SET> () button to exit group playback.
