Learn how to fix a non-opening head cover on your PIXMA MG3120 when you need to replace an ink cartridge.

Solution

If the head cover doesn't open when you replace an ink cartridge, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Turn the printer OFF.

  2. Push against the left side of the cartridge holder until it hits the right inner side of the printer.
    Caution Be careful not touch the other parts inside the printer.

  3. When the head cover opens, move the cartridge holder until you can see the cartridge lock lever.

  4. Remove the protective tape and the white fixing material attached to the cartridge holder to confirm that the holder is positioned as shown in the image below (on the right).

  5. Close the head cover, turn the printer ON, then make sure the head cover opens automatically.
