In most cases, Wireless Setup Using the USB cable can be used to connect your printer to a router.
Before you begin

If needed during the connection process, refer to the instruction manual for your router.

Router / SSID / Network Name - Identifies a specific wireless network

Network Key / Encryption Key / WEP Key / WPA/WPA2 Passphrase / Pre-Shared Key - Refer to a Wi-Fi® password

Don't connect the USB cable yet.
- Quit all applications before you start the installation.
​Set up wirelessly with a USB cable

Press the ON button to turn off the machine. Operating noise stops after about 30 seconds.
If the USB cable is already connected, unplug it. If a message appears on the computer, select Cancel.

Download and install the following drivers and software from the Canon USA website:

CUPS printer driver

Scanner driver
- Canon IJ Network Tool
You can also download and install other software from the website, such as the ICA driver, MP Navigator EX, and My Image Garden. These additional items aren't required to complete a wireless setup for your printer.

Connect a USB cable between the printer and computer.

Use the IJ Network Tool to configure the printer for wireless use.
