Light Flashes Orange - PIXMA iP2700, iP2702

Description

Understand and resolve a flashing orange light on a PIXMA iP2700 or iP2702 printer.

Solution

When a printer error occurs, the lamp on the printer flashes orange.


Do this first:

Note the number of times the orange lamp flashes. The number of flashes tells you what type of error it is.

2 flashes:

1000 The printer is out of paper.
The paper doesn't feed.

Reload paper in the rear tray and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

3 flashes:

1300 There is a paper jam.

The paper may be jammed.

  1. Remove the jammed paper.
  2. Reload new paper, then press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

Resolve a paper jam.

4-5 flashes:

1687
(4 flashes)

1401, 1403, 1485
(5 flashes)
Ink cartridge can't be recognized.

The ink cartridge isn't installed properly or isn't compatible with this printer.
Open the front cover, then install the ink cartridge properly or install the one compatible with this printer.

7 flashes:

1486, 1487 The ink cartridge isn't installed in the correct position.

Make sure each ink cartridge is installed in the correct position.

8 flashes:

1700 The ink absorber is almost full.

The ink absorber is almost full.
Press the printer's RESUME/CANCEL button to continue printing.

13 flashes:

1686 The ink level can't be detected.

The ink may have run out.
The function for detecting the remaining ink level may be disabled since the ink level can't be correctly detected.
Note If the function for detecting the remaining ink level is disabled, the ink tank is displayed in gray on the printer status monitor.

If you want to continue printing without this function, press the printer's RESUME/CANCEL button for at least 5 seconds.
Caution Canon recommends using new genuine Canon cartridges in order to obtain optimum qualities. Be advised that Canon isn't liable for any malfunction caused if you continue printing under the ink out condition.​

14 flashes:
 

1684 The ink cartridge can't be recognized.

The ink cartridge may not be compatible with this printer.
Install the appropriate ink cartridge.

15 flashes:
 

1682 The ink cartridge can't be recognized.

The ink cartridge may not be installed properly.
Open the front cover and install the appropriate cartridge.

16 flashes:
 

1688 The ink has run out.

The function for detecting the remaining ink level may be disabled since the ink level can't be correctly detected.
Note If the function for detecting the remaining ink level is disabled, the ink tank is displayed in gray on the printer status monitor.

If you want to continue printing without this function, press the printer's RESUME/CANCEL button for at least 5 seconds.
