Solution
When a printer error occurs, the lamp on the printer flashes orange.
Do this first:
Note the number of times the orange lamp flashes. The number of flashes tells you what type of error it is.

1000 | The printer is out of paper. The paper doesn't feed. |
Reload paper in the rear tray and press the RESUME/CANCEL button. |

1687 (4 flashes) 1401, 1403, 1485 (5 flashes) |
Ink cartridge can't be recognized. |
The ink cartridge isn't installed properly or isn't compatible with this printer. |
7 flashes: |
1486, 1487 | The ink cartridge isn't installed in the correct position. |
Make sure each ink cartridge is installed in the correct position. |
8 flashes: |
1700 | The ink absorber is almost full. |
The ink absorber is almost full. |
13 flashes: |
1686 | The ink level can't be detected. |
The ink may have run out. |
14 flashes: |
1684 | The ink cartridge can't be recognized. |
The ink cartridge may not be compatible with this printer. |
15 flashes: |
1682 | The ink cartridge can't be recognized. |
The ink cartridge may not be installed properly. |
16 flashes: |
1688 | The ink has run out. |
The function for detecting the remaining ink level may be disabled since the ink level can't be correctly detected. |
