Solution
Do this first
Before updating the firmware, check to see if it's necessary. Print the nozzle check pattern and check the output. If the firmware listed on the result is earlier than version 2.070, an update is recommended.Update the firmware

At the printer, disconnect any LAN or USB cables except the one connected to the computer.

Remove any memory cards from the card slots.

At the computer, disconnect printers other than the one you want to update and make sure it is connected via USB.

Start the Canon update utility

Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the firmware update. Don't disconnect the printer until the update is complete.
You can disconnect the USB and reconnect the printer to the LAN after the printer shuts down to complete the update.
