EOS Utility does not work properly / uninstalling (deleting) and re-installing EOS Utility (Windows 8)

Solution

Please follow the procedure below to uninstall (delete) EOS Utility and then re-install the software.
CAUTION
Exit any applications before uninstalling EOS Utility.

Uninstalling (deleting) EOS Utility

1. Move the pointer to the bottom right side of the screen. When the Charms bar is displayed, move the pointer up to select [Settings]. Next, select the [Control Panel].

2. Click [Uninstall a program].

3. Select [Canon Utilities EOS Utility 2] or [Canon Utilities EOS Utility], and then click [Uninstall/Change].

NOTE
If a version of EOS Utility prior to Ver. 2.13 is installed on your computer, [Canon Utilities EOS Utility] will be shown in the position indicated by the icon in the sample image above. In this case, [EOS Utility] will be displayed in the screens shown in the sample images below.

4. Click [OK] to begin the uninstallation of EOS Utility.

5. If the software is successfully uninstalled, the following screen will appear. Click [OK] to close the window.

This completes the process of deleting EOS Utility using the uninstaller.

Reinstalling EOS Utility

1. After uninstalling EOS Utility, make sure to restart your computer.
CAUTION
If the computer is not restarted after uninstalling EOS Utility, operational problems may occur when the software is reinstalled.

2. Confirm the version information appearing on your EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk, before installing the software. If an EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk was not included with your camera, download the software from the Canon home page and install it on your computer.
Versions prior to 27 are not supported by Windows 8. If the version you have is earlier than 27, please download the updater [euxxxja.exe] ('xxx indicates the version number) from the Canon homepage, and follow the instructions displayed. If the [User Account Control] screen is displayed, please proceed accordingly.
Versions 28 and later are supported by Windows 8. If you already have a supported version, please refer to the procedure below to complete installation.

3. Insert the EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk into your computer.
Click the window that appears in the upper right of your screen.

4. If the following screen appears, click [Run SETUP.EXE].

5. Select the area in which you live.

6. Select the country where you live, and then click [Next].

7. Select your language.

8. Click [Custom Installation] when the screen below is displayed.

9. Click [OK].

10. When the screen below appears, append EOS Utility with a checkmark (), and then click [Next].

11. Click [Install].

12. Click [Yes] to accept the License Agreement.

13. The following screen appears and installation begins.

14. Click [Next].

15. The following screen appears.
  • In this example [No, I will register later] has been selected.
  • To register in CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, select [Yes, I would].
Click [Next].

16. Click [OK].

17. Click [Finish].

REFERENCE
If a message appears prompting you to restart the computer, click [Restart].

This completes the procedure for re-installing EOS Utility.
