Description

Recording a Proxy Video File to a Mobile Device (Real-Time Proxy Transfer) (XF200 / XF205)

Solution

You can stream a proxy video file* of the image recorded on the camcorder to a connected mobile (iOS or Android) device** in order to record it locally on the device. You can then send the video back to a studio or broadcast control unit for immediate reporting from the ground.
In addition to checking the camcorders live image, with the CameraAccess plus app you can also zoom and start/stop recording (on the iOS/Android device or on the camcorder).

* 1.5 Mbps, 640x360 MP4 video file.
** The CameraAccess plus app needs to be installed on the iOS or Android device. The CameraAccess plus app, provided by PIXELA, is available for free from the App Store (for iOS devices) and Google Play (for Android devices).

Step 1: Installing CameraAccess plus
Step 2: Connecting the Camcorder to the Mobile Device
Step 3: Using Real-Time Proxy Transfer

NOTE
  • When using the camcorder's Wi-Fi functions, do not cover the Wi-Fi antenna with your hand or other object. Covering it may interfere with wireless signals.
: Built-in Wi-Fi antenna
  • Do not open either of the CF card slot covers or the SD card slot cover while using network functions.
  • The camcorder is Wi-Fi certified and can connect to a Wi-Fi network using an external access point (wireless router) or can itself serve as a Wi-Fi access point. The camcorder can connect to wireless routers (access points) compliant with the 802.11a/b/g/n protocol and are Wi-Fi certified (bear the logo shown below). The connection method you use will depend on the type and specifications of the access point and network you want to use.
  • Real-time proxy transfer cannot be used when the frame rate is set to 23.98P or together with special recording modes.
IMPORTANT
Before Using Network Functions
  • The instructions in this section assume you already have a correctly configured and working network, network device(s). If necessary, refer to the documentation provided with the network devices you want to use.
  • Configuring the network settings requires adequate knowledge about configuring and using wired (Ethernet) and/or wireless (Wi-Fi) networks. Canon cannot provide support regarding network configurations.

CAUTION
  • Canon shall not be liable for any loss of data or damage resulting from incorrect network configuration or settings. Additionally, Canon shall not be liable for any loss or damage caused by the use of network functions.
  • Note that using an unprotected Wi-Fi network can expose your data to monitoring by unauthorized third parties. Be aware of the risks involved.

Step 1: Installing CameraAccess plus

1. On the iOS/Android device, download and install the CameraAccess plus app.
  • The app can be downloaded for free from the following Web sites.
