Shooting in Various Scenes (PowerShot SX400 IS)

Solution

The camera will select the necessary settings for the conditions in which you wish to shoot when you choose the matching mode.

Set the Shooting Mode

1. Press the <Power> button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the <> button repeatedly until [LIVE] is displayed.*
*[LIVE] is displayed as the default mode after purchase. If the initial settings have been changed, the selected mode will appear.


3. Press the <FUNC./SET> () button, and choose [Shooting Mode] in the menu


4. Press the <> or <> button, and then press the <><> buttons to choose the desired [Shooting Mode].

4. The following screen appears.

When the icon for the [Shooting Mode] you selected appears in the top-left corner of the screen, the setting is complete.

Special Modes for Other PurposesAuto Shooting after Face Detection[Face Self-Timer] ( )The camera will shoot about two seconds after detecting that the face of another person (such as the photographer) has entered the shooting area. Shooting Long Exposures[Long Shutter] ( )Specify a shutter speed of 1 15 seconds to shoot long exposures. In this case, mount the camera on a tripod or take other measures to prevent camera shake.
Shooting in Program AE [ ] ModeYou can customize many function settings to suit your preferred shooting style.

NOTE
  • In [Fireworks] () or [Long Shutter] () mode, mount the camera on a tripod or take other measures to keep it still and prevent camera shake. Additionally, you should set [IS Mode] to [Off] when using a tripod or other means to secure the camera.
  • In [Long Shutter] () mode, if the flash fires, your shot may be overexposed. In this case, set the flash to [Off ] () and shoot again
  • In [Low Light] () mode, resolution is [ ] (2304 x 1728) and cannot be changed.
  • In [Fireworks] () mode, although no frames are displayed when you press the shutter button halfway, optimal focus is still determined.
  • In [Super Vivid] (), [Poster Effect] (), [Fish-eye Effect] (), [Miniature Effect] () and [Toy Camera Effect] () modes, try taking some test shots first, to make sure you obtain the desired results.
