Solution

Follow the steps below to set up Access Point mode.

Before you begin

Network diagram

  • Access Point mode allows the printer to wirelessly connect from a computer or smartphone without an access point or wireless LAN router.

  • When you use the printer with access point mode, be sure to specify the access point name and the security setting in advance

  • If a device has already been connected to the printer via wireless LAN and you want to add a new device, connect the new device to the printer directly.

  • You can connect up to 5 devices to the printer at the same time.

  • Review the restrictions when you change the connection method from direct connection to connection via a wireless router:

  • To confirm the current access point settings, print out the network setting information.

  • You can specify the access point name (SSID) and the security setting optionally.

Enable the Access Point mode

  1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.

  2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button, then release the button when the power lamp flashes 3 times.

  3. When the power lamp stops flashing and changes to a steady light, the access point mode is enabled.

Print with the Access Point mode

  1. Turn on wireless communication on your computer or smartphone.

For Android™ or iOS, enable Wi-Fi® on your device's Setting menu. For more information on the procedure, refer to the device's instruction manual.

  2. Select XXXXXX-iP110series from the SSID list displayed on device. XXXXXX represents last six digits of printer's MAC address.

  3. Enter the printer's password.

The printer serial number is specified as the default password. It is printed on the sticker attached on the printer's rear and consists of 9 alphanumeric characters (four alphabets followed by five numbers).

  1. After the device has connected, open an app on your mobile device or computer and perform a test print.

If you use a computer, make sure that you have the drivers for the printer installed first.

How to terminate Access Point mode

  1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button, then release the button when the alarm lamp flashes 4 times.

  2. When the power lamp changes from flashing to a steady light, the standard wireless LAN mode is enabled.

If you want to disable all wireless LAN functionality, press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button until the Alarm lamp flashes 12 times, then release the button. After the Wi-Fi lamp turns off, all wireless LAN functionality is disabled.
