Description

Identify and resolve the Support Codes that display on your MAXIFY MB5020 printer.

Solution

The support code appears on the touch screen and the computer screen when an error occurs.

Support Code means the error number, and it appears with an error message.

When an error occurs, check the support code that displays on the touch screen or the computer screen and reference the table below to take the appropriate action.
 

Support Code Cause Action

1600

Ink may have run out.

  • Replace the ink tank.

  • If a print job is in progress and you want to continue, tap OK. Replace the ink tank after the print job completes. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by printing in the ink out condition.

  • Received faxes will store in the machine's memory until the ink is replaced. You will need to manually print out faxes stored in the memory.

  • Don't remove an ink tank until you have a new one ready to install.

  • Once you remove an ink tank, the machine won't operate until you install a new one. It won't operate even if you try to reinstall the old tank.

1660

The ink tank is not installed.

The ink has run out.

  • Replace the ink tank and close the front cover.

  • If you want to continue to print in this condition, you need to turn off ink level detection. Press and hold the machine's Stop button for at least 5 seconds, then release it. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by printing in the ink out condition.

  • Ink level detection will be turned off and will remain that way until you change the ink tank.

  • Don't remove an ink tank until you have a new one ready to install.

  • Once you remove an ink tank, the machine won't operate until you install a new one. It won't operate even if you try to reinstall the old tank.

The ink tank is not installed properly.
  • Open the front cover and push down on the ink tank.

  • After proper ink tank installation, close the front cover.

Automatic print head Alignment failed, because:

Print head nozzles are clogged.

Paper other than A4 or Letter size is loaded.

The paper output slot is exposed to strong light.

Tap OK on the touch screen to dismiss the error, then do the following:

  • Print the nozzle check pattern to check the status of the print head.

  • Load one sheet of A4/Letter-sized plain paper and perform automatic print head alignment again.

  • Adjust your setup and/or the position of the machine so that the paper output slot isn't directly exposed to strong light.

 If the problem continues after print head alignment, tap OK on the touch screen to dismiss the error, then perform a manual print head alignment.

An error that requires you to contact the service center has occurred.

  • Turn off the machine, and unplug it from the power supply. 
     If you unplug the power cord, all the faxes stored in the machine's memory are deleted.

  • Service is required.

Printer error has occurred.

  • Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly.
  • Cancel the print job and turn off the machine.

  • Confirm that there are no materials (e.g. the protective material or jammed paper), that prevent the print head holder from free movement. If any remain, remove the materials.

  • Push down on the ink tank until it clicks into place.

  • Turn the machine back on.

 When you clear the jammed paper or protective material, be careful not to touch the clear film or the white belt. If the paper or your hands touch these parts and blot or scratch them, the machine can be damaged

  • If you unplug the power cord, all the faxes stored in the machine's memory are deleted.

How to disable the IPv6 Settings of the Machine

1. Select Setup on the operation panel.

2. Select Device settings.

3. Select LAN settings.

4. Select Other settings.

5. Select CP/IP settings.

6. Select IPv6.

7. When a message displays, select Yes.

8. Select Enable/disable IPv6.

9. In the screen displayed, select Inactive.
