Description

How DEP (Depth of Field) mode works.

Solution

This mode is effective when you want a wide depth of field to keep everything in focus near and far. The optimum point of focus and aperture to attain the required depth of field are set automatically along with the shutter speed

  • To use this mode, the lens focus mode switch must be set to AF

While press the <MODE> button, turn the dial until DEP appears on the LCD panel. Then release the <MODE> button

Press the button and turn the or the dial to select the desired focusing point

Aim the selected focusing point at the nearest subject you want in focus, then press the shutter button (6sec.)
  • The in-focus indicator lights and DEP 1 is displayed
  • If two focusing points are active, focusing points will be used for depth-of-field AR

Use the same focusing point to aim at the farthest subject you want in focus and press the shutter button (6sec.)

  • The in-focus indicator lights and DEP 2 is displayed
  • You can also reverse the above two steps

Compose the picture and press the shutter button halfway to check that the shutter speed and aperture are not blinking (6sec.)

  • The point of focus is set between the two DEP points. The aperture required to achieve the desired depth of field and a suitable shutter speed are set automatically
  • If you release the shutter button DEP and the aperture will be displayed
  • The exposure setting is set when the picture is taken
