Procedure for setting ISO PowerShot SX100 IS.

Solution

Changing the ISO Speed

Change the ISO speed when shooting in dark places or when you want to shoot with a faster shutter speed. You can choose from the following speeds: ISO 80, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600. This function is only available in P,Av,Tv, and M modes.

When in the (Auto) camera shooting mode only and can be selected.

1. Press the <ISO> () button on the Multi Controller.

2. Each press of the or button toggles thru the settings (ISO Auto, HI, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600.)

  • Higher ISO speeds increase the image noise. To take clean images, use as low an ISO speed as possible.
  • Although the (Auto) sets the optimal ISO speed according to the light level when shooting. Since the ISO speed setting will automatically be raised in dark places, the camera will select a faster shutter speed and reduce the chances of camera shake.
  • Selecting the (High ISO Auto) sets the sensitivity to a higher value than the setting. This sets the shutter speed faster, reducing the potential for camera shake or blurry subjects compared with the setting. Noise in the recorded image may be higher than for the setting since it enables the camera to choose a higher ISO range.
