Solution

Changing the Machine Settings

Here is a complete view of the Device settings, which includes the Bluetooth settings option. If a Bluetooth adapter is not installed, this setting will not appear in the Device settings menu.

  1. Ensure the Press the <ON/OFF> button to power on the machine.

  2. Press the HOME button.

  3. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the right / left cursor button to select [Settings], then press the <OK> button.

  4. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the right / left cursor button to select [Device settings], then press the <OK> button.



  5. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select an item from the Device settings list, then press the <OK> button.



  6. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select the applicable one from the list, then press the OK button.

    Example: select Print settings.

    1. Select the setting item, then press the <OK> button. The setting screen for the selected item is displayed.



    2. Select the menu, then press the <OK> button.
      Example: select Extended copy amount.

Print Settings

  1. Prevent Paper Abrasion
    Use this setting only if the print surface becomes smudged.

    Note: Be sure to set this back to OFF after printing since it may result in lower print quality.

  2. Extended Copy Amount
    Selects the amount of image that extends off the paper when printing in Borderless (full).

    Note: When setting LARGE, more of the edge of the image is cropped.

  3. Film print cutting range
    Use this setting to specify the cutting range of the 35 mm film.

    Note: Select Undersize cut when the frame of film is scanned. Select Oversize cut when the edge of image is not scanned.

Wireless Print Settings


  1. Page size
    Set the paper size for printing images from a mobile phone.
    The available options are: 8.5"x11"(215x279) / A4 / Sticker / 4"x6"(101.6x152.4) / 5"x7"(127x177.8) / Credit card / 8"x10"(203.2x254.0)

  2. Media type
    Set the media type for printing images from a mobile phone.
    The available options are: Photo Plus Glossy / Matte Photo Paper / Plain paper / Glossy Photo Paper / Photo Paper Pro

  3. Image optimizer
    Smooths out the jaggedness on the contour of an image from a mobile phone.
    The available options are: Image optimizer ON / Image optimizer OFF

  4. Layout
    Sets the layout according to the paper for printing images from a mobile phone.
    1. Selectable layout for stickers
      - Stickers: x2, x4, x9, x16
      - Free-cut stickers: 1, 2, 3, 4
    2. Selectable layout for other media
      - Bordered: x1, x2, x4, x8
      - Borderless: x1, x2, x4, x8
      - Mixed: 1, 2, 3

      Note:
  • When printing on the Canon special stickers, select the layout according to their types.
  • Mixed 1, Mixed 2, and Mixed 3 can be selected only when the page size setting is 8.5" x 11" (215.9 x 279.4) or A4.

Bluetooth Settings

Note: This menu only appears when a Bluetooth compatible device is inserted in the printer.

  1. Device name:
    Specifies the name of this machine that is displayed on a Bluetooth compatible device.
    For example, if you set it to MP970-2, the machine will be displayed as "Canon MP970-2" on the Bluetooth device. The default value is MP970-1.

  2. Access refusal:
    Selecting 'ON' will disable searching of this machine by a Bluetooth compatible device.

  3. Security:
    Selecting 'Enable' will enable the passkey specified in Passkey. Setting a passkey will prevent unwanted access from other Bluetooth devices.

  4. Passkey:
    Changes the passkey.
    The passkey is a four-digit number used to prevent unwanted access from other Bluetooth devices. The default value is 0000. After you change the passkey, you may be required to enter the new passkey on a Bluetooth device, even though it had previous access to the machine. In this case, enter the new passkey on the device.

PictBridge Settings

  1. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select [Device setting], then press the <OK> button.

  2. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select [PictBridge settings], then press the <OK> button.

  3. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up cursor button to select [Next], then press the <OK> button.



    <1> Page size:
    You can specify the page size when printing from a PictBridge-supported device.
    The available options are: 8.5"x11"(215x279) / A4 / 4"x6"(101.6x152.4) / 5"x7"(127x177.8) / Credit card / 8"x10"(203.2x254.0) / Wide 4"x7.1"(101x180)

    <2> Media type:
    You can specify the media type when printing from a PictBridge-supported device.
    The available options are: Photo Plus Glossy / Matte Photo Paper / Plain paper / Glossy Photo Paper / Photo Paper Pro

    <3> Print quality:
    You can adjust image quality when printing from a PictBridge-supported device.
    Standard / High (quality-priority)

    <4> Border:
    You can specify prints with a border / without a border.
    Bordered / Borderless

  4. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select [Auto image fix On] or [Manual correction], then press the <OK> button.

    If you selected Manual correction, proceed to step 5.

  5. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select the item to set, then press the <OK> button.

  6. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up / down cursor button to select the applicable one from the list, then press the <OK> button.

  7. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the up cursor button to go to OK at the top of the PicrBridge settings screen, then press the <OK> button.





    <5> Photo optimizer pro:
    Automatically corrects the color and brightness of an image.
    Photo opt. pro ON / Photo opt. pro OFF

    <6> Vivid photo:
    Makes greens and blues brighter.
    Vivid photo ON / Vivid photo OFF

    <7> Face brightener:
    Makes darkened face brighter when printing photos taken against a bright light.
    Face brightener ON / Face brightener OFF




    <8> Noise reduction:
    Reduces the noise which may be seen in the blue areas such as the sky or dark areas of photos.
    Noise reduction ON / Noise reduction OFF

    <9> Image optimizer:
    Smooths out the jaggedness on the contour of an image.
    Image optimizer ON / Image optimizer OFF

    <10> Red eye correction:
    Corrects red-eye caused by reflection when the flash hits a person's eyes.Red eye correc. ON / Red eye correc. OFF

    <11> Brightness:
    Adjusts the brightness of a printed image.
    Brightness -2 / Brightness -1 / Brightness standard / Brightness +1 / Brightness +2




    <12> Contrast:
    Adjusts the contrast of a printed image.
    Contrast -2 / Contrast -1 / Contrast standard / Contrast +1 / Contrast +2

    <13> Color hue:
    Adjusts the color hue of a printed image.
    Color hue red +2 / Color hue red +1 / Color hue original / Color hue yellow +1 / Color hue yellow +2

    <14> Effect:
    Prints a photo using sepia tones only or in the manner of an illustration.
    No effect / Effect: Sepia / Simulate illustration

LAN settings


  1. Reset LAN settings
    Changes the machine's LAN settings back to the default (factory settings).

  2. Display LAN details
    Display the information of the machine's network settings.

Other Settings

  1. Date Display
    Changes the display format of shooting dates when printed.
    When 'Date ON' is selected on the Advanced Print Settings screen in Memory card mode, the shooting date is printed in the date display format you selected. The shooting date format is as specified in the DPOF setting from DPOF printing.

  2. Read/write Attribute
    Selects whether to allow data to be written onto memory cards from a computer.

    Note: This setting cannot be changed when a memory card is inserted.

    Read/write mode : Data in a memory card can be read and be written with a computer.
    Printing from a memory card is not possible.
    Read-only mode : Data in the memory card can be read with a computer.
    Printing from a memory card is possible.

  3. Power Save Setting
    Specifies the time until Power saving is enabled.

    You can select from 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour or 4 hours. The default value is 1 hour.

  4. Slide Show Setting
    Specifies the image display quality of the slide show.

    Note: When Image quality: Standard is selected, images are displayed at 5-second intervals. When Image quality: High is selected, images are displayed at different time intervals according to their resolutions.

  5. Quiet Mode
    Use this function if you want to reduce the operation noise, such as when printing at night.

    Note: Printing speed may be reduced compared to when this setting is set to OFF. This function may not be so effective depending on the print quality setting. Furthermore, certain noise, such as when the machine is preparing for printing, is not reduced.

Language Selection

Changes the language for LCD messages and menus.

Reset Settings

You can change the settings back to the default, except for the LCD language and the position of the Print Head.
