Change the paper feed source (Windows) iP3500

Solution

How to change the paper feeding method (Windows)

Paper can be fed from the rear tray or the front feeder. A paper source can be selected from the printer driver.

Note: Some applications also have a setting for the paper source that will override settings made using the steps below. This may cause an error if the paper source in the application does not match the setting in the driver preferences. If the paper feeds from the wrong source, or paper feed errors occur; check the documentation for your application for paper source settings.

Procedures:

  1. Select the command you use to perform printing from the program you are using. (In general, select 'Print' on the File menu to open the Print dialog box.)

Note: For details on how to display a Print dialog, refer to the instruction manual for the application software you are using.
'Properties' may be indicated as 'Advanced', depending on the application software.

  2. Select your model name and click 'Preferences' (or 'Properties'). The printer driver setup window appears.

  3. Click the 'Main' tab.

  4. Select the most favorable one from the following options in the Paper Source section.

4-1. When using the Rear Tray :

Paper is always fed from the auto sheet feeder.

4-2. When using the the Front Tray:

Paper is fed from the front feeder.

Note: Only Letter or A4 or B5 sized plain paper can be set in the front feeder. If you use other types of paper, use the Rear Tray.

4-3. When using Front for Plain Paper :

Paper is fed from the Front Feeder: when the print data from application software is Letter sized plain paper, the printer driver automatically sets its paper source to the Front Feeder.
Since paper types other than the above will not be fed from the Front Feeder, the Front Feeder can be reserved for Letter size plain paper, which is probably the most frequently used type of paper, and the Rear Tray for other paper types.

  5. Click 'OK'.

  6. Changing the paper feeding method is completed.
