Uninstalling Windows XP drivers from Windows Vista

Solution

If Windows XP drivers have been installed in Windows Vista and you are ready to install Windows Vista drivers, the Windows XP drivers must be uninstalled first.

  1. Insert the CD-ROM into the cd-rom drive.
    If you have auto-run enabled, and the set-up screen pops up, click [EXIT].

  2. Click on [Start], and then click [Computer] on the right side of the menu.

  3. Right click on the CD-ROM drive and select [Explore].

  4. Double-click on the "Drivers" folder.

  5. Double-click on the "us_eng" folder.

  6. Right-click on the file "Setup.exe", and select "Properties".

  7. Click on the tab labeled "Compatibility".

  8. Click on the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

  9. Click on [Apply] and then [OK].

  10. Double-click on "Setup.exe" to start the setup program.
    Follow the onscreen prompts and select "Uninstall" when prompted.

  11. Once the Windows XP driver has been uninstalled, simple double-click on the downloaded Windows Vista driver and follow the onscreen prompts for installation.
