How to print photographs directly from a digital camera

Photo Printing Directly From A Digital Camera

Connecting a PictBridge compliant device such as a digital camera, digital video camera or camera-equipped mobile phone (hereafter, they are collectively called a camera.) to the machine allows you to print recorded images directly without using a computer.
You will find the following logo on your camera or its manual if it is compliant with PictBridge.

Connecting A Digital Camera to the Printer

Caution: When connecting a supported digital camera to the machine, use the USB cable that is provided with the camera for connecting it to a computer. Do not connect any equipment other than the camera ready for 'PictBridge' to the Direct Print Port of the machine. If you do so, electric shock, fire, or damage to the camera could result.

Important information when printing directly from a camera to the printer:

  • When printing from the camera, keep the USB connected until the printer is finished printing.
  • Avoid connecting the digital camera to the machine while copying, scanning, faxing or printing is in progress.
  • When producing photos with the digital camera connected to the machine, it is advisable to use the AC adapter supplied with the camera.
  • If the camera battery is used, be sure the batteries are fresh or fully charged.
  • Depending on the model or brand of your camera, you may have to select a mode of producing photos compliant with 'PictBridge' before connecting the camera.
  • It may be necessary to turn on the camera or select Play mode manually after connecting the camera to the machine. Perform necessary operations according to the instruction manual supplied with your camera.

To prepare for printing directly, please follow this procedure:

  1. Ensure that the machine is powered on and open the paper output tray.

  2. Load paper in the auto sheet feeder (A) or cassette (B).

  3. Ensure that the camera is turned off.

  4. Connect the camera to the machine using the USB cable (for connection to a computer) supplied with the camera.

Note: Depending on the camera model/brand, you may have to select a print mode compliant with PictBridge before connecting it to the machine. (For details, refer to the instruction manual supplied with your camera.)

  5. Turn on the camera and set it in a replay mode.

Note: Some types of cameras turn on automatically when connected to the machine.
