Description

How to set and use the Wide and Tele Panels on the flash.

Solution

Illustration shows the wide angle and the tele panel - they are used separately

The Canon Speedlite 480EG can cover an angle of view up to 35mm focal length without an adapter. When shooting with lenses in the 20-28mm focal length range, use the Wide Panel 480EG-20. The guide number will becone lower and the effective flash exposure control range will become shorter. If the focal length is equal to or longer than 135mm, use the Tele Panel 480EG-135. The guide number will become higher and the effective flash exposure control range will become higher.
  1. Mount the Canon Panel Adapter 480 on the tube section. The top and bottom of the Adapter are symmetrical so it can be mounted with either side facing up
  2. Depending on the lens you are using, mount either the Wide Panel 480 EG-20 (WIDE 20mm) or the Tele Panel 480EG-135 (TELE 135mm). Insert the knobs on the panel into the projections on the Panel Adapter and push them in
  3. To remove the panel, pinch the top and bottom of the Panel Adapter and pull it out. Do not hold the side to firmly or the Panel Adapter cannot be pulled out.
