Description

Microsoft Vista RAW support through Photo Gallery software using Canon provided codec download.

Solution

RAW Support in Vista using Photo Gallery.

Microsoft Vista will support the conversion of RAW images through the Photo Gallery software used for viewing images. To use this feature download and install a Canon provided RAW "codec" that is currently available for download on the Canon USA web page. You may also still use the RAW image task within Zoombrowser 5.8a or Digital Photo Professional 3.0 version currently available for use with Windows Vista.

We still suggest that you process RAW files using the provided Canon software however, this does offer another option to convert or process RAW images.

At the moment this codec installation will not support all Canon RAW files and currently supports RAW files from the EOS 1D Mark II, EOS 1D Mark II N, EOS 1Ds Mark II, EOS 5D, EOS 20D, EOS 30D, EOS Digital Rebel XT, and the EOS Digital Rebel XTi.

This codec is to be used separately from our software and with the Microsoft Photo Gallery software provided with Microsoft Vista. You will not be able to use the codec with any provided Canon software.

Please use the following link to access the Canon Codec download. Canon Download Library

From here use the three drop down boxes to make your model specific selection. On the following page there is a link for Drivers / Software, click that link to access the download page where the Codec is located. You may need to disable any pop-up blocking software and any firewall software if you are unable to access the page.
