Procedure for using add on lenses PowerShot G7

Solution

Using the Optional Lenses and Lens Adapter

The camera supports use of the optional Wide Converter WC-DC58B and Tele-converter TC-DC58C ). In order to attach any of these lenses, you also need to use the optional Conversion Lens Adapter LA-DC58H. In order to use these conversion lenses on the camera using the Image Stabilization feature (IS) you will need to set the converter used in the menu.

In the (Rec.) Menu and choose [Converter] the options are [Off] / [WC-DC58B] / [TC-DC58C].

  • When attaching the wide converter, tele-converter or close-up lens, be sure to screw it on securely. If they come loose they may fall from the lens adapter, posing risk of injury from shattered glass.
  • Never look into the sun or into strong light through the wide converter, tele-converter or the close-up lens, as this can result in blindness or impairment of vision.
  • When you remove the converter from the camera return the converter setting in the (Rec.) Menu back to off.

Wide Converter WC-DC58B

Use this converter for taking wide-angle shots. The wide converter changes the focal length of the camera body's lens by a factor of 0.75x (The thread diameter is 58 mm.).

Tele-converter TC-DC58C

This 58 mm-threaded diameter magnifying conversion lens is for taking telephoto shots. The lens changes the focal length of the camera body's lens by a factor of 2.0x.

  • An externally mounted flash may not automatically adjust its output when a conversion lens is mounted on the camera.
  • Do not attach filters or lens hoods to the wide converter or teleconverter.
  • When using the built-in flash to shoot, a portion of the image may be blocked by the wide converter or tele-converter and appear dark.
  • When using the viewfinder to shoot, a portion of the image in the viewfinder may appear to be blocked by the wide converter or tele-converter.
  • Use the wide converter lens with the focal length set to the maximum wide angle setting.
  • Use the tele-converter lens with the focal length set to the maximum telephoto setting. At other zoom settings, the image will not appear correctly.

Conversion Lens Adapter LA-DC58D (58 mm)

This optional adapter is required for attaching the wide converter and tele-converter.

Attaching a Lens

1. Be sure that the camera is turned off.

2. Press the ring release button and hold it down, and turn the ring in the direction of the arrow.

3. When the marks on the ring and the camera are aligned, lift off the ring.

4. Attach the conversion lens adapter to the camera by aligning the part of the adapter marked with a dot to the ring release button, then rotating it in the direction of the arrows until locked.

  • To remove the conversion lens adapter, hold down the ring release button and turn the adapter in the opposite direction shown.

5. Set the lens on the adapter, and attach it securely by turning it in the indicated direction.

  • Completely remove all dust and dirt from conversion lenses with a lens blower brush before use. The camera may focus on any dirt that remains.
  • Exercise due caution when handling the lenses since it is easy to dirty them with finger prints.
  • Be careful not to drop the camera or adapter when removing the ring.
  • When shooting with these attachments, please use the LCD monitor to compose your shots. The attachments block part of the view through the viewfinder, and the area shown in the viewfinder does not match the area of the shot that is actually recorded.
  • You should not shoot images in mode when using these attachments. Although it is possible to select this mode at the camera, the PhotoStitch software will not be able to stitch the images together at the computer.
