Solution

Disable Detect paper width (Mac OS X)

By default, the printer will detect the width of the paper in the printer and compare it to the paper size setting selected in 'Page Setup'. If a difference is detected, an error will occur so that you will not ruin a sheet of photo paper.

If this message appears even when the paper loaded in the printer is the same as the setting, the printer may not be able to detect the width of your particular photo paper accurately. In this case, set the printer driver not to detect the width of the paper by following the instructions below:

After confirming that the printer is connected to the printer and that the printer is powered on, perform the following:

  1. In the Apple menu select System Preferences

    Note:
In versions of Mac OS X older than 10.4, open the IJ / BJ Printer Utility from the Library>Printers>Canon>BJPrinter>Utilities folder.

  2. Open Print & Fax.

  3. Make sure the correct printer is selected and, depending on OS version, click 'Open Print Queue...' or 'Print Queue...'.

  4. Click the Utility icon.

  5. Select the printer, then click 'Maintenance'.
  6. The IJ Printer Utility is launched.

  7. From the pop-up menu, select 'Custom Settings'.

  8. Uncheck 'Detect paper width', and then click 'Send'.

    * Display may vary depending on the printer.

  9. Click 'OK'.

  10. The settings will be sent to the printer.

  11. Click 'Quit'.
