Use this mode to shoot movies.

• The resolution in [Standard], [Movie Accent], and [Movie Swap] can be set to either 640 x 480 or 320 x 240. You can also choose between the frame rates of 15 Frames per second (fps) and 30 fps.
• In [High Resolution] the resolution is fixed at 1024 x 768 and 15 fps.
• Time Lapse allows you to select a shooting interval (1 or 2 sec.) to have a single frame taken at that interval.

1. Turn the shooting mode dial to and use the control dial to select a movie mode.

• The LCD monitor turns on and displays the maximum recording time (in seconds) based on card size or depending on the mode selected.

2. Press the shutter button all the way.

• Shooting and sound recording starts simultaneously.
• During the shooting a red circle appears in the upper right of the LCD monitor (or viewfinder).

3. Press the shutter button all the way again to stop recording the movie.

• Recording will stop automatically under the following circumstances:
  - When the maximum recording time elapses
  - When the built in memory or memory card becomes full.
• The elapsed time from the start of recording to the finish will display on the LCD monitor when playing back a time lapse recording, but the actual playback time will be shorter than the displayed time.

• [Standard], [Movie Accent], [Movie Swap] and [High Resolution] the maximum limit is 1 hour or 4 GB whichever comes first.
• These times may vary with the subject and shooting conditions. Recording will automatically stop when the maximum is reached or when the SD cards runs out of free capacity.

• You are recommended to use a SD card that has been formatted in your camera to shoot movies. The card supplied with the camera may be used without further formatting. In addition, you are recommended to use the optional SD-512MH SD Card (not sold in some regions) to shoot movies with the setting.
• Be careful not to touch the microphone while shooting.
• The AE, AF, white balance and zoom settings are set and locked to the settings of the first frame.
• If the indicator blinks after a shot, this indicates that the movie is being written to the CF card. You cannot shoot again until it stops blinking.

• Sound is recorded monaurally.
• There is no shutter sound in movie mode.
• QuickTime 3.0 or higher is required to replay movie files (AVI / Motion JPEG) on a computer. (QuickTime (for Windows) is bundled on the supplied Digital Camera Solution Disk. On the Macintosh platform it is bundled with the operating system install.
