The Windows XP Driver for your Canon digital camera is a USB WIA (Windows Image Aquisition) driver, and is available on our web site at www.powershot.com. Following are the steps for installing the driver.

Note: If you have previously installed a USB TWAIN driver for your camera, it must be uninstalled before installing the USB WIA Driver. Click here for instructions for uninstalling the USB TWAIN driver.

Note: Users of Windows XP Professional must first log in as an administrator to install programs.

Installing the USB WIA Driver

For the PowerShot S40, PowerShot S30, PowerShot G2, PowerShot S300 Digital ELPH, PowerShot S110 Digital ELPH, PowerShot A20, and PowerShot A10 (Download is not necessary if the driver version 3.9.0 came with the camera -- Canon Digital Camera Solutions Disk version 7.1.):

  • From the PowerShot web site (http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/customer/driverdown.html), download WIA390.exe.
  • Double-click the downloaded file to expand and generate an uncompressed folder on your PC.
  • Open the uncompressed folder and double-click setup.exe to install the driver files in your computer. (Note: Installation will not complete until you connect your camera.)
  • When directed by the installation program, attach the supplied USB cable to the computer's USB port and the camera's Digital Terminal, and set the camera to Replay mode.
  • The driver will be installed on your computer automatically.
