My computer is unable to detect the camera (Windows)

My computer is unable to detect the camera (Windows)

If you have installed the TWAIN or WIA Driver and the IEEE 1394 (firewire) driver, but your computer is not communicating with the camera, please check the following items.
  1. Are the camera and the PC connected correctly? Make sure you are using the IEEE 1394 interface cable which came with your camera.
  2. Is there sufficient capacity left in the camera battery? The PC does not supply power to the camera. Connect the DC Coupler Kit to the camera or load a fully charged battery into the camera before connecting it to your PC.
  3. Do you have more than one interface cable connected? If you connect more than on interface cable to the same PC, the IEEE 1394 Driver and camera may not operate normally. Shut down the TWAIN Driver for Camera and disconnect all the interface cables. The reconnect just the interface cable that connects the camera to your PC.
  4. Is the IEEE 1394 Driver operating properly? Open the [Device Manager] tab sheet. Click the plus symbol ([+]) to the left of [Imaging Device] and check that [EOS-1D] is displayed. If [EOS-1D] is not displayed, the IEEE 1394 Driver is not operating normally. Use the following procedure to re-install the TWAIN Driver for Camera.
  • Disconnect the interface cable and uninstall the TWAIN Driver for Camera. (See page 5-6 in the manual.)
  • Re-install the TWAIN driver for camera. (See page 1-2 in the manual.)
  • After installation ends, restart your PC.
  • Following the restart, connect the camera to your PC using the interface cable. (See page 2-2 in the manual.)
  • The IEEE 1394 driver is installed automatically. (See page 1-4 in the manual.)

4a. When the [X], [!] or [?] symbol is displayed beside [EOS-1D] in the Device Manager, part of the IEEE 1394 Driver is missing or corrupted. Use the following procedure to re-install the IEEE-1394 Driver.

  • Delete [EOS-1D] displayed in [Imaging Device].
  1. Is the IEEE 1394 Driver installed corrrectly? Open the [Device Manager] tab sheet. Click the plus symbol ([+]) to the left of [Other Devices] or [Unknown Devices] and check whether [EOS-1D] is displayed. If [EOS-1D] is displayed in [Other Devices] or [Unknown Devices], the IEEE 1394 Driver was not installed correctly. Use the following procedure to re-install the IEEE 1394 Driver.
  • Delete [EOS-1D] displayed in [Other Devices] or [Unknown Devices].
