How do you connect the camera to a Windows computer?

After you've installed ZoomBrowser EX 3.3 and the driver software (according to the version of Windows you are using), connect the EOS D60 to your computer with the interface cable so that they can communicate. You can connect the camera while your computer is running. You can also set up your software so that ZoomBrowser EX or a TWAIN Driver-compatible application such as Photoshop 5.0 LE is started when you connect the camera to your computer.

Before connecting the camera to the computer, Windows XP users must select the program to be started automatically (Photoshop 5.0 LE, ZoomBrowser EX or the Scanner and Camera wizard). See ?To Start Software Automatically (Windows XP)? in the Software Instructions Guide. The connection will only function correctly if the automatic start setting is specified.

1. Install ZoomBrowser EX and the EOS D60 driver software utilities.

  • Load the EOS Digital Solution Disk into your computer, double-click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop, then double-click the CD-ROM icon.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install ZoomBrowser EX 3.3, driver software and other Canon utilities.

2. Plug the interface cable into the computer.

  • Plug the cable into the USB port on the computer.

  • The location of the port differs depending on your computer.

  • Refer to the User?s Manual for your computer for details.

3. Plug the interface cable into your camera.

  • Open the cover and plug in the interface cable so that the ^ mark on the plug is aligned with the ^ beside the DIGITAL terminal.

4. Set the camera?s main switch to <ON>.

  • The [EOS D60 event] dialog box appears.

  • If you are using Windows 2000, the [Event on Device: EOS D60] dialog box appears.

  • If you are using Windows Me or Windows XP (and you selected [Scanner and Camera Wizard] in the automatic start settings), the [Scanner and Camera Wizard] dialog box appears. Click the [Cancel] button to close the [Scanner and Camera Wizard] dialog box.

  • When automatic software starting is enabled, the specified software starts up.

5. Select software.

  • Select the software to be used and click the [OK] button.

  • The selected software starts up.

  • To cancel automatic software starting, click the [Cancel] button.
