  • To use this function, one of the following e-mail programs should be installed.
Windows: Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Eudora or Netscape Messenger. (Some mail programs are required to set the MAPI function on.)
Macintosh: Mail, Eudora or MS Entourage.

OCR

This function starts an OCR program (software that converts image data to editable text data) after the scan is complete and opens the scanned image file in it. The default program is OmniPage SE.

Save

This function scans an item and saves the results to an image file or PDF file.

Photo-1 and Photo-2

These functions start the linked application program after the scan is complete and pass the image file to it. By default, the [Photo-1] button starts PhotoStudio (the [Photo-2] button is not linked to any software by default).

PDF

This function scans the item and saves the data in the PDF format, then starts the linked application program and passes the document file to it. This function starts a PDF viewer program and opens the scanned image file in it.

There are three tabs ([COLOR], [BLACK & WHITE], and [CUSTOM]) on the [PDF] window. Click the tab that suits your document. You can set custom settings on the [CUSTOM] sheet.

  • Each tab corresponds to a specific PDF button on the scanner. The settings for the following sheets are used when the PDF buttons on the scanner are pressed:
[COLOR] button: [COLOR] sheet
[BLACK & WHITE] button: [BLACK & WHITE] sheet
[CUSTOM] button: [CUSTOM] sheet

Settings

The [Settings] window allows you to assign Toolbox functions to scanner buttons. It can also be used to select a scanner if more than one is connected.
