System Reguirements

To successfully install and use the software, your system must meet the following requirements:

Windows

Macintosh

Windows:

  • Use a computer on which Windows XP, Windows2000, Windows Me or Windows 98 can operate.
    (Pentium?, Celeron? 566MHz / 128MB RAM: 256MB recommended)
  • USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface

    USB 2.0 Hi-Speed*1 operation can only be guaranteed under the environments below.

    OS: Windows XP (SP1 or later)/Windows 2000 (SP4 or later)
    USB 2.0 Hi-Speed driver: USB 2.0 driver for Windows*2
    USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface: a PC and a USB cable that comply with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed standard*3

    *1 Since the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface is fully upwardly compatible with USB Full-Speed (USB 1.1), it can be used at USB Full-Speed (USB 1.1).
    *2 Microsoft?s authorized drivers are available through Windows Update or Service Pack installation. Any non-Microsoft USB 2.0 drivers are not guaranteed.
    *3 All operations are not guaranteed for computers standard-equipped with a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface.
  • USB interface
    USB operation can only be guaranteed on a PC with preinstalled Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, or Windows 98 or a PC preinstalled with Windows 98 or later and upgraded to Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Me.
  • A CD-ROM drive, or a CD-ROM drive that is shared online.
  • 550 MB of available hard disk space
  • Canon IJ Status Monitor cannot be used under the following conditions:
    - When sharing this machine on a network (Windows Me, Windows 98)
  • Browser: Windows HTML Help Viewer

    * Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later must be installed. The on-screen manual may not be displayed properly depending on your operating system or Internet Explorer version. We recommend that you keep your system up to date with Windows Update.


USB:

To use the machine with USB Full-Speed (USB1.1-equivalent), the cable must be a USB-IF-approved USB Full-Speed no longer than 10 feet (3 meters).

Perform the following to check whether a SP is installed:

  1. Right-click 'My Computer', then select 'Properties'.

  2. The currently installed Service Pack is displayed under System.


IMPORTANT: While the machine is printing from or scanning images to the computer, or the computer is in the sleep mode or standby mode, do not disconnect and connect the USB cable.

User authority when using Microsoft Windows XP/2000:

When installing the software in Windows XP, you must log on as Administrator. When installing the software in Windows 2000, you must log on as Administrator or have Administrator privileges.

Macintosh:

  • CD-ROM drive, or access to one over a network connection
  • Use a Macintosh series computer equipped with USB interface on which Mac OS X v.10.2.8 or later can operate.
  • USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface

    USB 2.0 Hi-Speed* operation can only be guaranteed under the environments below.

    OS: Mac OS X v.10.2.8 or later
    An USB 2.0 Hi-Speed port and a USB cable that comply with the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed standard (USB 2.0 Hi-Speed operation on the expansion board is not guaranteed.)

    * Since the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface is fully upwardly compatible with USB Full-Speed (USB 1.1), it can be used at USB Full-Speed (USB 1.1).

  • USB interface

  • Available hard-disk space for printer driver installation

    Mac OS X v.10.2.8 or later: Approx. 450 MB
  • The following functions are not supported:

    - Duplex Printing
    - Photo Optimizer PRO
    - Poster Printing
    - Fit-to-Page Printing
    - Booklet Printing
    - Reverse Order Printing (supported with Mac OS X v.10.3.x or later)

IMPORTANT: While the machine is printing from or scanning images to the computer, or the computer is in the sleep mode or standby mode, do not disconnect and connect the USB cable.

When installing the software from Mac OS X, you must log on as Administrator.
